Police Blotter: Gun Magazine Found At Post Office

ALARMS

Officers responded to an active alarm at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 3 on the 2000 block of Jordan Terrace. They were met by the resident, who stated that when he returned home he found his garage door open and the service door to the house unlocked. The K9 team searched the house but found no indication that anyone was inside.

Officers responded to reports of a car alarm that was activated at 2:50 a.m. Aug. 4 on the 600 block of Armstrong Court. Officers eventually made contact with the registered owner and he reset the alarm.

A motorcycle driver and vehicle driver complained about each other’s driving habits, claiming that each put the other in jeopardy at 3:45 p.m. Aug. 3 on the 400 block of Diane Drive. Both drivers were advised to be more cautious in their driving and warned against road rage behavior.

A resident reported a loud hissing noise coming from a company at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 3 on the 900 block of Commerce Court. An officer located a small nozzle with steam coming out. The company was closed and the officer will notify the Building and Zoning Office.

A resident reported solicitors at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 3 on the 1900 block of Sheridan Road. An officer located one, who stated that there were about 10 of them in the area soliciting for a company called Urban Development out of Grosse Pointe, Mich. They did not have a permit and were told to stop.

FOUND ITEM

A Buffalo Grove Post Office employee found a 40-caliber, 31-round extended magazine for a Glock firearm in a loose container of collected mail at noon Aug. 3. The magazine was placed into property at the police station.

An officer on patrol found a pink and gray Next Power-X 18-speed woman’s mountain bike lying on the ground at 12:45 a.m. Aug. 4 on the 700 block of South Buffalo Grove Road. The bike was placed into property at the police station.

ORDINANCE VIOLATION

A complainant reported a lot of trash on the sidewalk and a mattress in the front yard on Aug. 3 at a home on the 500 block of Lyon Drive. An officer checked and found the house to be vacant. The Building and Zoning Office was notified.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A resident of the 400 block of Thorndale Court reported an unknown vehicle and occupant down the street from her residence at 8:05 a.m. Aug. 3. An officer spoke with the occupant, who stated that he was waiting for an insulation delivery that was being installed in a home on the block. The delivery was made while the officer was on scene.

THEFT

Someone pumped $15.01 in gasoline at the Mobil station and drove off without paying at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 3. The vehicle was described as silver with a blue license plate. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

A resident stated that she had some friends over, along with several people she did not know personally, from 10 p.m. Aug. 2 to 1 a.m. Aug. 3 During the visit the complainant found that cash was taken from her purse, and a laptop computer, a PlayStation PSP3, a computer web cam, and 15 computer games also were missing.
