Police Blotter: Gravesite Vandalized, Kids Left Home Alone

ANIMALS

A resident of the 900 block of Pine Tree Circle South reported an ongoing issue with the upstairs neighbor’s dog barking at 7:45 a.m. July 2. Officers responded and did not hear the dog bark. No one was at home in the neighbor’s unit.

A resident of the 800 block of Trace Drive reported July 2 that her neighbor allows his cat out to wander freely in the hallway. The resident stated that the cat has hissed at her, making her fearful. The resident has spoken with the neighbor, who was not receptive to keeping the cat in his unit. An officer spoke with the neighbor and told him to keep his cat inside his unit.

CIVIL MATTER

A resident reported July 2 that his divorce decree allowed him and his wife to keep their respective cars. The decree stated that once the wife’s car is paid off, the title was to be transferred to the daughter. Now that the daughter is staying with the resident, he wants the car from the wife even though it is not paid off. The resident was referred to his attorney.

NOISE COMPLAINT

A complainant reported loud music coming from a neighboring home at 9:30 p.m. July 2 on the 200 block of South Buffalo Grove Road. An officer spoke with the homeowner who stated that he would turn down the music and bring everyone inside.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A guest at was locked out of his room at 9:45 p.m. July 2 and when the roommate, who was sleeping, did not answer the door, the guest went outside and knocked on the window, breaking it. The guest reluctantly agreed to pay for the damage.

A resident of the 100 block of Stonegate Road reported that the driver-side window on her son’s vehicle was broken between 9 p.m. July 1 and 9 a.m. July 2. There was no indication of how the window was broken.

VANDALISM

A resident reported of vandalism to her son’s grave at . Someone has been pulling off all of the petals from the flowers and scattering them. The latest incident occurred between 11:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 2.

Someone threw a half-dozen eggs on a car between 4 and 7:30 p.m. July 2 while it was parked in a driveway on the 400 block of Parkview Terrace.

WELL-BEING CHECK

Two young boys came to a resident’s door at 8:20 p.m. July 2, crying and stating that they were home alone. An officer contacted their father, who stated that he was down the street picking up his niece and would be home shortly. The father arrived home and the Department of Children and Family Services was notified.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident of the 1-100 block of Manchester Drive received a call at 3:10 p.m. July 2 from a man who would not give his name or the name of his company. The caller stated that he was confirming an appointment to install a cable box filter in her home. The resident was advised to call 911 immediately should someone show up at her door.
