Police Blotter: Gas Smell Investigated, Portable Toilet Set on Fire

ALCOHOL

Judith Vega, 20, of the 400 block of Shorewood, Round Lake Beach, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane usage and disobeying a traffic control device at 2:15 a.m. June 9 at Arlington Heights Road and Beechwood.

A citizen reported that she was bitten by a small white dog while walking at 2:30 p.m. June 11 near Pine Tree and Hidden Lake. Officers contacted the owner and explained the observation period. 

A citizen reported that she was bitten by a small white dog at 5:30 p.m. June 11 near Prairie and Brandywyn. Officers contacted the owner and explained the procedure.

ATTEMPTED SCAM

A resident reported receiving a phone call from an unknown person soliciting money at 9 a.m. June 11. Officers explained that the call was a scam and they should disregard it. 

BURGLARY

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle between June 10-11 on the 300 block of Mary Belle and took several items, including a laptop computer. 

COMPLAINT

A resident of the 900 block of Pine Tree Circle South reported noise coming from a neighboring unit at 9:30 p.m. June 11. Officers found the home to be quiet when they arrived, but asked the neighbors to keep the noise down. 

FOUND PROPERTY

A citizen reported finding a debit card at 4:27 p.m. June 11 in the Walgreens parking lot. Officers contacted the card’s owner. 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Officers found damage to a portable toilet June 11 in a park on the 3900 block of Main Street. It appeared a plastic shroud was damaged by fire. 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

Police and firefighters responded to a report of a smell of natural gas at 8:29 a.m. June 11 at a building on the 1100 block of Weiland Road. They found burner knobs in the on position. The knobs were turned off and the unit was ventilated. 

THEFT

A resident of the 2900 block of Sandalwood reported several solar lights were removed from the side of his home between June 10-11.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 600 block of Grove reported finding a mattress on top of her parked vehicle on June 11. The vehicle was not damaged. It was determined that the mattress was taken from the nearby dumpster.
