Police Blotter: Four Teens Charged with Marijuana Possession

ALCOHOL

Juan S. Diaz, 30, of the 1100 block of West Pratt Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, no valid driver’s license, speeding and improper signal at 12:40 a.m. April 6 on Dundee Road at Old Arlington Heights Road.

ANIMALS

A resident reported April 5 that the neighbor’s dog barks at them whenever the dog is outside. This is an ongoing problem. The officer suggested to both the resident and the neighbor that they work together and acquaint the dog to the neighbor so it does not feel threatened and have a need to bark. Both agreed to work on it.

A resident reported that a woman in the neighborhood continually walks her dog off leash. The resident has confronted the woman but she continues to walk her dog off leash. An officer spoke with the woman, who stated that since the resident confronted her she has been putting her dog on a leash.

DRUGS

A resident reported four youths behind a shed smoking pot at 3 p.m. April 5 on the 700 block of Grove Drive. Officers located the youths, smelled burnt cannabis, and the youths appeared to be under the influence. Officers found two packets of cannabis and a glass smoking pipe. A 15-year-old Buffalo Grove resident was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 3 p.m. April 15 on the 700 block of Grove Drive. Also charged with possession of marijuana were two 15-year-old Wheeling residents and a 16-year-old Wheeling resident. They were released to their parents.

INVESTIGATION

A resident told police April 5 that he was advised there is an outstanding arrest warrant for him in Florida, but he has never been to Florida. An officer found that the person who is wanted has the same name as the resident and a very similar Florida driver’s license number, but the warrant is not for the resident.

LOST ITEM

A resident reported March 30 that the validation sticker on his license plate was missing. The resident was given a notice of loss or theft and was referred to the Secretary of State’s Office.

THREAT

A resident reported April 5 that her ex-boyfriend has threatened her while attending school in Des Plaines. The resident requested information on obtaining an order of protection and she was referred to the police social worker. The resident also was advised to speak with her school counselor and to report the incident to Des Plaines police.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/PERSON

A resident of the 200 block of Winding Oak Lane reported that someone rings her door buzzer every morning between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., and two or three times a week her phone will ring once. At about 4:15 a.m. April 4, someone pounded on her front door. The resident does not know anyone in the area or anyone that would want to harass her. The resident was advised to call 911 immediately if these incidents continue.

A complainant reported that when threw some trash into a container at 6:20 p.m. April 5 in a parking lot on the 400 block of Half Day Road, a person exited the store and took a photograph of the complainant and his car. When the complainant confronted the person, he denied taking a photo. An officer located an address from the license plate furnished by the complainant and went there to speak with the person. The person stated that he has been followed for years and thought the complainant’s car may be the one doing the following. He said that when he got home he realized it was not the car and erased the photo from his camera. He apologized for creating a problem.

A resident reported that a person made an appointment with him to do an appraisal of his condo for a short sale on April 5. After the appraisal, the resident spoke with his real estate agent, who stated he knew nothing about an appraisal. An officer spoke with the appraiser, who stated that she was contracted by Lender Processing Services to do the appraisal for Bank of America and she provided the order number. The officer will verify that with Lender Processing Services.
