Police Blotter: Fireworks Lit in Mailbox; Cars Damaged

Arrests

Cody A. Thuente, 19, of the 400 block of Grove Avenue, Deerfield, was charged with driving on a suspended license Aug. 14 near Lake Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue. He was also cited for not having insurance and speeding. 

Tiburcio Esquibel-Gutierrez, 32, of the 500 block of McHenry Road, Wheeling, was charged with being an unlicensed driver Aug. 14 near Lake Cook and Arlington Heights Roads. He was also cited for violating a traffic control device.

Criminal Damage to Property

A resident on the 100 block of Sunridge Lane reported Aug. 14 that someone put fireworks in his mailbox and lit them. The mailbox had burn marks inside, police said.

A man reported that someone damaged his vehicle sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Aug. 14 while it was parked on the 800 block of Commerce Court.

A man said he found a long scratch on the driver's side of his vehicle. The damage occurred sometime between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 on the 400 block of Middlesex Court.

A woman reported that she discovered her patio planters on fire on the 0-100 block of Highland Grove Court South. She used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. It is unknown how the fire started.
