Police Blotter: Driver Invites Stranger to 'Hang Out and Smoke Weed'

LOST ITEM

A customer reported that he may have lost his keys Nov. 17 while at a business on the 1200 block of West Dundee Road. The facility was checked and no keys were found. The business official said she would call the officer if the keys are found.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/PERSON/VEHICLE

A resident of the 1-100 block of University Drive reported Nov. 17 receiving a package from UPS, which was addressed to an unknown person at the resident’s address. The resident called the company that sent the package and was instructed to mail it back. The resident then received a subscription for a magazine to the same unknown person at the resident’s address. The subscription was canceled. The resident was advised to check his credit status and place an alert with the credit bureaus.

A man reported Nov. 17 that he fired an information technology employee. Two days later, he found that his Facebook account and his LinkedIn account had their addresses and passwords changed. The complainant believes that the fired employee may be responsible.

A complainant reported being followed by a dark-colored four-door sedan with a male driver at 12:20 a.m. Nov. 18 on the 1-100 block of North McHenry Road. The complainant stopped and the following vehicle also stopped. The complainant drove next to the following vehicle and asked the driver what he wanted. The driver stated he wanted to hang out and smoke weed. The complainant then drove off. Twenty minutes later, the complainant called 911. The license plate provided by the complainant was not registered with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.

A employee reported a young man walked around the store for an hour and a half and then ran out of the store at 2:15 a.m. Nov. 18. The employee did not know if anything was stolen. A license plate was provided and the officer reached the owner by phone. The man stated that he contemplated stealing something from the store, but decided against it because he always gets caught. The young man was advised that he no longer was welcome at the store.

A resident of the 100 block of Steeple Drive reported that a person exited a car in the parking lot and urinated at 2:55 p.m. Nov. 17. The person then got back into the car and drove off. An officer contacted the registered owner of the car and left a message.

OTHER INCIDENTS

An official at a business on the 1600 block of North Buffalo Grove Road reported Nov. 17 that a man has come in about 12 times since the end of September, disturbing classes and refusing to leave when asked. Officers advised the official to call 911 immediately if the man returns.
