Police Blotter: Dog Attacked at Happy Tails Dog Park

ALCOHOL

Ivan Mykytsei, 51, of the 5900 block of West Henderson, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence and illegal lane use at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 10 on the 700 block of Aberdeen Lane.

James E. Lubus, 25, of the 400 block of Carman Avenue, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield right-of-way to an emergency vehicle, driving without insurance and speeding at 1:50 a.m. Feb. 11 on Weiland Road at Newtown Drive.

ANIMALS

A complainant stated that while she was at  with her dog at 7:45 a.m. Feb. 12, two other dogs attacked hers. None of the animals showed any signs of injury. The complainant was referred to Lake County Animal Control.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A resident of the 800 block of Shambliss Lane reported that someone forced open their front door while they were gone between 6 and 9:20 p.m. Feb. 11. Officers checked the residence and found no one inside. Nothing inside the home was disturbed or missing. There were no indications that anyone had entered the home.

COMPLAINTS

A driver reported that while she attempted to make a left turn at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Deerfield Parkway and Windbrooke Drive, the car behind her came around and made a left turn, cutting her off. An officer obtained the owner information from the offending car and left a phone message. No complaints were signed.

A resident of the 200 block of Fabish Drive reported loud noise coming from his upstairs neighbor’s unit, caused by a child running around at 4:35 p.m. Feb. 10. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who said his 2-year-old brother had been running and playing with a ball. The neighbor stated that he would make sure that his brother made no more noise.

A resident reported Feb. 11 that two solicitors knocked on her door even though she has a “no solicitor” sticker on her door. An officer located the visitors, who stated that they were simply passing out pamphlets and did not realize that they needed a permit. They stopped.

A resident reported Feb. 10 that a mother called her because she was upset that her son was being bullied at school by the resident’s son. The resident told the caller to allow the school officials and the school resource officer to handle the issue.

A resident reported that when her estranged husband returned their sons at 8:20 p.m. Feb. 11 he would not leave the front door because he wanted the resident to find a pair of shoes for him. When the resident told the husband that she could not find the shoes, he stayed at the door and kept ringing the doorbell. The husband departed when the resident called 911.

DRUGS

Michael R. Utterback, 26, of the 600 block of Colwyn, Deerfield, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 6:45 a.m. Feb. 10 on Lake-Cook Road at Northgate Parkway.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone scratched the passenger side and the rear of a car between Feb. 7 and Feb. 9 on the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane.

Someone broke the 4-by-4 post holding a curbside mailbox between 5:30 p.m. Feb. 11 and 8:10 a.m. Feb. 12. An officer observed tire tracks leading to the mailbox.

THEFT

A resident reported Feb. 9 that someone made two unauthorized trades totaling $14,000 on his ETrade account. The resident has contacted ETrade, which will follow up. 

WELL-BEING CHECK

A resident expressed concern Feb. 10 for his neighbor, who had been yelling and playing loud music for the past several days. Officers gained entry and found the neighbor sitting and staring blankly. Due to previous contact with the neighbor, paramedics transported him to the hospital.

A resident of the 300 block of White Pine Road reported a male walking in the middle of the street at 8:10 p.m. Feb. 11. An officer located the individual who stated that he had an argument with a friend and was walking home.
