Police Blotter: Defaced Grave Site, $8,000 Concrete Breaker Stolen

ACCIDENTIAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

An employee stated that asphalt in the parking lot at Siemens, 950 Deerfield Parkway, heated up, became soft and caused the kickstand of his motorcycle to give way and fall over May 24 between 9:00a.m. and 5:30p.m.  Scratches were observed on the bike and the rear tail was cracked. The clutch also broke off and the motorcycle was inoperable.

ALARM

Police officers responded to an active home alarm on Stanton Drive at 2:40p.m. on May 24. The front door was discovered to be unlocked, but when the interior was checked nothing was missing and no one was found inside the residence. The home owner was contacted by police and advised
of the incident.

ARRESTS

On May 24, Kenneth Rogers of the 1500 block of Camden Court, Wheeling, was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Speeding and Improper Lane Change after heading east bound on Dundee Road at Old Arlington Heights Road.

On May 24, Joshua Derenfeld of the 1000 block of North Sterling Avenue, Palatine was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The arrest occurred on the 1100 block of North Buffalo Grove Road.  

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A complainant reported finding her car window smashed in at the Arboretum Golf Club parking lot, 401 Half Day Road, on May 24.  The woman’s purse was taken from the vehicle, which contained a wallet, driver’s license, a check book, credit cards, gift cards, sunglasses and $45.  The incident is believed to have occurred between 6:40p.m. and 8:35p.m.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Parents reported that their son’s grave site had been defaced sometime between April 1 and May 24 at St. Mary Church Cemetery.  Smashed flowers were discovered on top of the grave, and the vase they were in was missing.  Similar reports have been made multiple times in the past, according to police.

SUSPICIOUS AUTO

A teenager reported that while walking dogs, a blue truck followed her slowly in the 2200 block of Miramar Lane at 5:15p.m. on May 24.  The girl was unable to get a look at the driver, and contact was not made.

THEFT

A contractor reported that a Stanley MB250 hydraulic concrete breaker valued at $8,000 was stoled from the Golf Dome parking lot at 801 North McHenry Road between 6:00p.m. on May 23 and 6:00a.m. on May 24.
