Police Blotter: Cops 'Negotiate' With Stray Cat

ALCOHOL

Eric S. Maher, 25, of the 900 block of Whitehall, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit and speeding at 9:13 p.m. July 3 at Arlington Heights Road and Beechwood. 

Oswald Llivi, 20, of the 3200 block of Wilson, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit, no valid driver’s license, illegal lane usage and illegal transportation of liquor at 12:49 a.m. July 3 at Lake-Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue.

ANIMALS

A resident of the 500 block of Cherbourg reported a stray cat ran into his home and took a position of safety under a bed at 3:31 p.m. July 3. Officers responded and after a period of negotiating, were able to capture the gray cat without further incident. The cat was not wearing a collar and a microchip was not located. The cat was taken to King’s Kennel.

DECEPTION

A resident reported that several unauthorized credit card purchases were made between April 20 and June 28. 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident reported receiving several harassing letters between June 17 and July 3. It was unknown who sent the letters. 

FOUND PROPERTY

A complainant reported finding an Illinois identification card at 8:40 a.m. July 4 near the Metra train station. Officers will contact the owner. 

Officers located a green Mongoose bike on the 100 block of Raupp Boulevard, near the south bank of Buffalo Creek and the west end of the park. The bike was taken to the police department for safekeeping. 

FRAUD

A complainant reported several acts of fraudulent activity regarding consultant and publishing job positions on Craigslist and LinkedIn between May 9 and July 2.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone damaged two vehicles between July 2-3 on the 700 block of Weidner Road.

THEFT

Someone stole a resident’s garbage can between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 3 on the 1000 block of Aspen.
