Police Blotter: Complainants Pelted By Ice Cream, Water Guns

ALCOHOL

Steven S. Strunk, 45, of the 1-100 block of Oak Creek Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to signal and illegal possession of open alcohol at 2:15 a.m. July 9 on Dundee Road at Golfview Terrace.

Melanie J. Seabul, 24, of the 4100 block of North Bloomington, Arlington Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and driving without insurance at 3:30 a.m. July 9 on Buffalo Grove Road at Golfview Terrace.

Antonio Iglesias, 35, of the 1800 block of North Keystone, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, driving without insurance, illegal transportation of open liquor and two arrest warrants at 6:50 p.m. July 9 on Lake-Cook Road at Weidner Road.

Gregory K. Carlisle, 46, of the 1400 block of North Walnut, Arlington Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane usage and driving without insurance at 1:25 a.m. July 10 on southbound Milwaukee Avenue near Deerfield Parkway.

ATTEMPTED SCAM

A resident reported that she received a call on July 8 from a female who identified herself as the granddaughter of the resident, that she is stranded in Panama, and needed $2,600 to get home. The resident advised the caller that she was aware of this scam and hung up.

BATTERY

A complainant reported that the opposing team’s coach came onto the playing field during a game at 6:30 p.m. July 9 on the 300 block of Weiland Road. An argument ensued and punches were thrown. Neither party wanted to sign complaints, so the officer admonished them for their juvenile behavior.

BURGLARY

Someone smashed the front glass door of a business on the 1200 block of West Dundee Road between 10:30 p.m. July 7 and 8:45 a.m. July 8. The owner of the business stated that many drawers in the business had been opened but nothing was missing. The cash had been removed prior to the business closing.

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed a navigation system and a charging cord for an iPod between 5 p.m. July 7 and 10:25 a.m. July 8 on the 1000 block of Courtland Drive.

COMPLAINT

A motorist stated that while riding in a convertible at 1:30 p.m. July 8 at Highland Grove Drive and Pauline Avenue, she was sprayed by a Super Soaker water gun from another car. An officer spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle, who stated that her 17-year-old son was out with the car. The officer spoke with the offender, who stated that he was willing to apologize. The complainant refused the offer and was satisfied that the officer spoke with him.

An employee at a business on the 1300 block of West Dundee Road reported that a former customer came to the salon at 9:40 a.m. July 9 after being told that she was no longer welcome. When asked to leave, the former customer refused to do so. She was gone when officers arrived. Her phone number was disconnected.

A resident reported July 10 that he was upset because his neighbor, with whom he does not get along, said hello to him. The resident requested that the officer speak with the neighbor and advise her not to have contact with him. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who stated that her sister was visiting and probably was the one who said hello.

A complainant reported that a vehicle was driving recklessly and disregarded a number of stop signs at 11:25 a.m. July 10 on Arlington Heights Road at Bernard Drive. An officer spoke with the registered owner, who stated that her 71-year-old mother had driven the car and appeared to be fine when she returned home. No complaints were signed.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A owner reported at 8:30 p.m. July 7 that on two occasions occupants of a red vehicle ordered ice cream at the drive-up window and then threw it at the employee. A check of the license plate provided showed no record on file. A manual search of the license has been initiated.

DRUGS

Garrett A. King, 18, of the 2400 block of Madiera Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:20 p.m. July 8 on the 100 block of Steeple Drive.

Luis D. Diaz, 18, of the 25500 block of North Arrowhead Drive, Mundelein, was charged with possession of marijuana at 10:20 p.m. July 8 on the 100 block of Steeple Drive.

FOUND ITEM

A resident reported that while walking at 8 a.m. July 8 on McHenry Road near Deerfield Parkway he found a zippered brown pouch. The contents of the pouch appeared to be marijuana, and it was placed into property for destruction.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A complainant reported July 8 that a former roommate continues to text her despite her requests for him to stop. An officer spoke with the acquaintance and told him to stop contacting the complainant.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone spray painted the rubberized ground of the playground at Twin Grove Park between 6 p.m. July 7 and 8:15 a.m. July 8.

Someone shattered the front and rear windows and both brake lights, and dented the trunk and roof of a parked car at 12:30 a.m. July 10 on the 300 block of Foxford Drive.

Someone tipped over a portable toilet and spray painted images on it and on a wall at Green Lake Park, a nearby resident reported July 10.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENTS/PERSON/VEHICLE

A resident reported a male sleeping in a vehicle at 11 a.m. July 8. An officer spoke with the male who stated that he was painting at the residence and was resting while his partners were doing trimming.

A resident reported at 7:30 a.m. July 6 that someone knocked on her front door, and when she looked, no one was there. The area was checked with negative results.

A resident of the 100 block of Old Oak Drive reported a subject came to the apartment building at 3:45 p.m. July 8 and asked questions about drug and alcohol use in the area. The resident refused to answer the questions and the subject left. An officer located some fliers in the hallway from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, indicating that the building was chosen at random for the survey.

A resident reported a male parked in a vehicle down the street on July 8 and stated that he believed the male was stalking his 24-year-old sister. An officer spoke with the male, who stated that he met the sister in a chat room, and they have been dating for a number of weeks. The sister confirmed this.

A resident of the 100 block of Old Oak Drive reported a man in the building asking residents for their apartment numbers at 1 p.m. July 9. An officer spoke with the man, who said he was with Research Triangle Institute doing research for the federal government. The subject said he had contacted the homeowners association, which was to notify the residents of his visit. An association member advised the resident of the validity of the subject.

THEFT

A customer at reported that a female pumped gas, laid the pump handle on the ground and drove off. The clerk discovered that $50.23 in gas was pumped, but the female had not for it. An officer checked on the registered owner of the offending vehicle, but found that she no longer lives at the registered address.

An waiter reported that three customers left without paying for their food at 4 a.m. July 10. The area was checked with negative results.
