Police Blotter: Cartful of Liquor Stolen

These were among the reports released March 29 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

COMPLAINT

A complainant stated that a car next to him came into the complainant’s lane, causing the complainant to swerve and hit the brakes at 8:30 p.m. March 27 at Buffalo Grove and Half Day roads. The complainant’s right rear wheel hit the curb and now the brake on that wheel is squeaking.

A dentist on the 200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported March 26 that a receptionist called in prescriptions for Hydrocodone for herself, using the dentist’s name. The receptionist has been terminat ed.

DRUGS

Edward D. Slonim, 25, of the 400 Block of Weidner Road, Buffalo Grove, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:45 p.m. March 27 on the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 1-100 block of Oak Creek Road reported that her mother, who does not speak English, found a note on her car that stated, “You don’t live here, go home! Beaner! English or die!” The mother has had no problems with anyone in the area.  The note, which wsa placed on the car between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. March 28, may have been left because her rental car does not have a parking permit sticker.

THEFT

An employee at Dominick’s, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road, reported that he observed two male subjects in the liquor section, loading a shopping cart with bottles at 9:40 p.m. March 28. The employee did not see the subjects leave the store, but later noted on surveillance tapes that they left without paying for the merchandise.  Approximately 25 to 30 bottles of liquor were taken.

WARRANT

Alex Ranczynski, 65, of the 600 block of Grove Drive, Buffalo Grove, was arrested on a warrant for domestic battery at March 18 on the 600 block of Grove Drive.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A resident of the 1100 block of Miller Lane reported March 28 that there has been a UPS envelope in the neighbor’s door for the past week. The resident does not know the neighbor, but felt it was unusual for the envelope to be there that long. There was no answer at the door and the listed phone number was out of service.
