Police Blotter: Cars Scratched, Citizen Loses Wallet Containing Shooting License

ANIMALS

A resident reported July 23 that she took a black lab from a friend, but now no longer wants the dog because he has shown some aggression. The resident wanted the officer to take the dog to a shelter. She was advised that that would be her responsibility. 

BATTERY

A resident of Old Oak Drive reported that a neighbor grabbed her by the arm when the resident was speaking to the neighbor about violating homeowner association rules at 1 p.m. July 22. The neighbor was fined $100 by the association for moving furniture on Sunday. The resident chose not to sign complaints.

COMPLAINTS

A resident of the 500 block of Highland Grove Drive reported July 23 finding trash in his mailbox on three occasions. The resident believes that a neighbor, whom he does not know, may be the offender. 

Officers responded to a report of youths gathering and possibly drinking at 11:25 p.m. July 23 on the 2400 block of Palazzo Drive. Officers noted four youths, two of whom ran off. The two that stayed stated that they were going to drink beer but chose not to. A breathalyzer test verified no alcohol. The other two were not located.

DISPUTE

A taxi driver reported that a rider paid his fare with a credit card on July 15. When the driver called in the card for payment a while later, the card was denied. The driver attempted several times more and the card was denied. When the driver was again dispatched to the rider’s home, the rider refused to make the prior payment and got out of the cab. An officer did not receive an answer at the rider’s home.  

LOST/FOUND ITEMS

A citizen turned in a black Samsung cell phone that her husband found at 5 p.m. July 22 in the intersection of Dundee and Arlington Heights roads. There was no useful information in the phone. The phone was placed into property at the police headquarters. 

A citizen reported that he found a maroon Magna Glacierpoint bicycle behind at 1 p.m. July 23. There were no identifiers on the bike and it was placed into property at . 

A complainant reported that she lost her blue wallet containing her birth certificate, driver’s permit, school identification card and shooting licenses from Colorado between 10:15 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. at .

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident reported that someone caused deep scratches on the driver side door, rear quarter panel and rear hatch of her 2008 Lexus and deep scratches on the passenger side rear door, trunk lid, and both driver side doors on her 1994 Toyota between 10 p.m. July 22 and 7:30 a.m. July 23 on the 900 block of Parker Lane.

A resident of the 900 block of Parker Lane reported that someone scratched his car while it was parked in the driveway between 2 p.m. July 21 and 10 a.m. July 23. The passenger side and trunk of the car had numerous scratches. 

A complainant stated that his car was scratched while parked at the between 10:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. July 22. The complainant thought that a park district employee, with whom the complainant had a confrontation, may have caused the damage. An officer spoke with the park employee who denied any involvement. 

THEFT

A resident stated that a friend came over to visit on July 23. The friend left the house after the resident and locked the house. When the resident returned home, she found a large amount of change missing from a container that she stores the money in. No criminal charges will be signed at this time. 

A business owner on the 700 block of Hastings Lane reported July 23 that  a former employee is refusing to return company property. The owner has sent a number of emails and an attorney sent a letter requesting the property. There has been no answer and the owner has no phone number for the former employee.
