Police Blotter: Cars Damaged, Customer Disputes Losing Lottery Ticket

ALCOHOL

A resident reported a highly intoxicated man in a front yard at 7:50 p.m. June 15. Officers located the man, who stated that he had quite a bit to drink and was attempting to walk home. He was sitting on the ground and was unable to get up. Paramedics responded and checked on him, and his son responded to take his father home.

An official at reported at 5:35 p.m. June 15 that a burgundy Cadillac had been parked in the restaurant’s lot for the entire day, and she believed that car belongs to a resident across the street. An officer attempted to make contact with the registered owner without success. The official planned to have the car towed.

A resident reported that his handyman’s stepson became belligerent and began to swear at the resident at 12:15 p.m. June 16. The handyman and his stepson left at the resident’s request. An officer spoke with the handyman, who apologized and stated that he would not return with the boy to the resident’s home.

A customer reported June 15 that he gave a clerk a winning lottery ticket and was told by the clerk that it was not a winner. The customer thought the clerk kept the winning ticket and returned a non-winner to him. An officer reviewed the security video and did not come to that conclusion.

A resident of the 800 block of Miller Lane reported that her neighbor started yelling at her over plantings next to her patio at 10:50 a.m. June 16. The neighbor told the officer that he yelled because of his frustration with the resident’s lack of respect for the rules of the homeowners association. Both were advised to stay away from each other and to let the board decide if there are violations.

FOUND ITEM

A resident of the 2000 block of Sheridan Road reported that her son found an Illinois driver’s license in a nearby park on June 15. The officer returned the license to its owner.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 300 block of Armstrong Drive reported that someone damaged his vehicle between 7 p.m. June 14 and 6 a.m. June 15. An officer noted two dents that appeared to have been caused by a BB or pellet.

A resident reported June 15 that his vehicle was damaged during the past two days. An officer noted dents and paint chips, which likely were caused by BBs or pellets.

A resident of the 1100 block of Russellwood Court reported that she heard her patio door shatter at 7:30 p.m. June 15 and when she looked outside, she saw a group of youths on the neighbor’s patio. The resident spoke to the kids, and one of them admitted to accidentally causing the damage. Information was exchanged. The resident then noted one of the youths leaving, carrying a BB gun.

A customer reported that two scratches were made to her passenger-side doors between 12:30 and 1 p.m. June 17.

A resident of the 1-100 block of West Fabish Drive reported dents were made on the lower portion of the driver-side door between June 12 and June 17. It is unknown how the dents were caused.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/PERSON

A resident reported two people sitting in a vehicle and possibly smoking marijuana at 4:35 p.m. June 15 on the 100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road. An officer located the people, who stated that they were repairing the car. The officer did not note any smell or signs of illegal activity.

An officer noticed a blue pickup truck with four aluminum bakery racks in the back, which appeared to be in good condition at 2:30 a.m. June 17 at Lake-Cook and McHenry roads. The truck driver said the racks were given to him by a person at a grocery store in Chicago. That store was not open at that time to verify. The officer placed a critical reach alert out showing the racks, the truck and the driver.

THEFT

Someone entered a garage on June 15 on the 1100 block of Bristol Lane and took a black jacket with NBA patches on it. The jacket is valued at $100.

A mother reported that her son, who works at , had his silver Nokia Astound cellphone stolen at 5 p.m. June 16 The son stated that he saw a woman at the counter where his phone was and she then left without ordering anything. The cellphone service was canceled.

THREAT

A resident who has had a boarder for a number of months gave the boarder two months to find another place to live. When the resident reminded the boarder on June 15, she became upset and made threats. The resident did not want the boarder contacted, but requested that the threats be documented.

WELL-BEING CHECK

An officer responded to a report of a man who appeared disoriented and had a medical alert bracelet on at 4:25 p.m. June 15 on the 100 block of Mohawk Trail. An officer located the person, who told the officer that he was out for a walk and felt fine. He continued on his walk.
