Police Blotter: Car Damaged, Drug Charges

The following information was supplied by the Buffalo Grove Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Alcohol

Miguel A. Nunez, 55, of the 4200 block of West Lake Avenue, Glenview, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding in a construction zone at 11:30 p.m. June 2 on northbound Arlington Heights Road, south of Lake-Cook Road.

Animals

A resident brought to the police station a brown mixed-breed dog she found in the parking lot at 300 Half Day Road. The dog, which did not have tags or a microchip, was taken to Kings Kennel.

Burglary

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and ransacked the glove box and center console between 11 p.m. June 1 and 6:45 a.m. June 2 on the 600 block of Raintree Road. Nothing was reported missing.

Dispute

A person reported that while backing out of a parking space at 7:20 p.m. June 2 on the 300 block of Half Day Road, another driver almost struck him. The driver went into a pizza parlor and the person followed. The person stated that when he entered the parlor, the manager threatened him and told him to leave. The manager stated that he asked the person to leave several times and he finally did. Other employees stated that no threats were made.

Drugs

Ryan McGee Colbourn, 18, of the 1-100 block of Cambridge Lane, Lincolnshire, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of marijuana, speeding, illegal lane usage and disregarding a stop sign at 12:45 a.m. June 3 on northbound Buffalo Grove Road at Hidden Lake Drive.

Noise complaint

A resident reported loud construction noise coming from a neighboring house at 10 p.m. June 2 on the 200 block of Lincoln Terrace. Officers located the house and spoke with the neighbor, who said that he didn’t realize what time it was and that he would stop working.

Parking complaint

A resident of River Oaks Circle West reported that someone parked a vehicle in his driveway at 9:15 a.m. June 2 and requested it be towed. Ernie’s Towing was called. The registered owner called and was advised of the tow. Police said it appeared that the owner dropped the car off for detailing at the wrong address.

Property damage

Someone scratched a vehicle’s driver-side rear door, driver-side rear quarter panel and the passenger-side rear quarter panel between 11:30 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. June 2 in the parking lot of Cooper Middle School.

Public service

An official at Arlington Academy, 1300 West Dundee Road, reported June 2 that a male subject came on the premises, looked at a vending machine and told the official that he would be by later to pick the machine up. The official felt this suspicious because the machine has been empty for a year and has not been serviced. An officer met with the subject and confirmed that he is the legitimate owner of the machine.

Suspicious incident

An individual reported that when he attempted to withdraw money from an ATM at 7:10 p.m. June 2 at a bank on the 100 block of North McHenry Road, the machine did not dispense the funds. The individual thought that the machine might have been compromised. Two other customers used the machine while the officer was there and it worked properly.

Suspicious phone call

A resident reported receiving a phone call from a male caller with a heavy accent on June 2. The caller stated that he was from Publisher’s Clearing House and was informing her that she won a BMW and $1 million. The caller requested that the resident purchase a $299.99 prepaid money card, which he would pick up. The resident believed this to be a scam and hung up.

Theft

A resident reported May 29 that someone made an unauthorized withdrawal from her account in the amount of $640.26 and a service fee of $6.40. The transaction took place in South Africa. The resident’s credit union has been notified.
