Police Blotter: Car Burglarized, Identity Thefts

BURGLARY

A complainant reported that his driver’s side window was shattered while parked in a lot between 6-10 p.m. Jan. 28 on the 800 block of North McHenry Road. A backpack containing various items was missing from the vehicle.

A resident reported Jan. 28 that she and her landlord were having difficulties and she wanted to leave but felt she wasn’t able to. Officers spoke to everyone and the subjects removed their items and left the residence. 

A taxi driver reported that he was not paid after providing rider with transportation to the 700 block of South Weidner Road at 3:46 p.m. Jan. 28. Officers spoke with the rider and the fare was paid. 

FOUND PROPERTY

A citizen turned in a license plate that was found in the grass at 7:36 p.m. Jan. 28 on the 300 block of McHenry Road. Police will contact the owner of the plate.

IDENTITY THEFTS

A resident reported that he opened a credit card in November and has made only three transactions totaling less than $100. The complainant checked his balance on Jan. 25 and learned that his balance was almost three times the amount that it should as a result of several purchases that he did not make.

A resident reported Jan. 28 that he received an email that he thought was from Comcast that asked him to enter a new credit card and his Social Security number. He later learned that the email was fraudulent. The complainant contacted the credit bureaus and placed a fraud alert on his file. 

PHONE HARASSMENT

A complainant reported that he received text messages and phone calls between Jan. 27-29 from two potential clients that didn’t work out. Officers made contact with the callers and advised them to cease all contact.
