Police Blotter: Boy Claims Right to Public Urination, Flees

These were among the reports released April 27 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

ANIMALS

A resident reported that a subject was walking his dog on an extended leash and the dog was on the resident’s lawn at 9 a.m. April 26 on the 1100 block of Mill Creek Drive. When the resident asked that the dog be removed from the lawn, there were words exchanged and the subject threatened bodily harm to the resident. An officer spoke with the subject, who stated that the resident made threats. The subject will walk his dog on the other side of the street to avoid future conflicts. 

BURGLARY

Cosmin M. Merca, 26, of the 8700 block of West Lyndale Street, River Grove, was charged with two counts of burglary at 8:30 p.m. April 26 after an employee at Harris Bank, 1190 McHenry Road, found a skimming device attached to one of the ATMs. Investigators conducted surveillance on the machine and confronted Merca, who was wearing the same clothing as a subject video recorded as removing a skimming device at an earlier date. 

DRIVING COMPLAINT

A complainant reported that a vehicle had been tailgating her and the vehicle continued to follow her at 2:30 p.m. April 26 at Aptakisic and Buffalo Grove roads. The vehicle then passed and slammed on the breaks and cut the complainant off several more times. The license plate given did not match the vehicle described.

PUBLIC INDECENCY

A complainant stated that when he walked into a parking lot at 4:45 p.m. April 26 on the 1-100 block of North Buffalo Grove Road, he saw a youth urinating next to a car. When the complainant told the youth not to do that, the youth replied that it is a free country. The youth got into a car and left. Officers checked the area with negative results.

THEFT

A cab driver stated that he drove a male subject, in his early 20s, from Chicago to Buffalo Grove. When the driver stopped near Birchwood Lane and Birchwood Court, as requested, the subject got out of the cab and ran off without paying the $120 fare. Officers checked the area with negative results.

UNWANTED SUBJECT

A manager at a gym on the 300 block of Half Day Road reported that a subject, whose membership had been revoked, was in the parking lot at 2:50 p.m. April 26 after being told not to return. An officer spoke with the subject and advised him to leave or he would be arrested. The subject stated that he understood and left.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A manager at a gym on the 300 block of Half Day Road reported that a member confronted an employee 11 p.m. April 21, and the confrontation made the employee very uncomfortable. The manager will handle the matter by revoking the member’s membership and tell him not to return.
