Police Blotter: Bong Dumped On Resident's Lawn

ALCOHOL

Aaron C. Blackwell, 19, of the 1100 block of Pheasant Run, Zion, was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 12:45 a.m. on Lake-Cook Road east of Hastings Drive.

BATTERY

Ramon A. Rodriguez, 32, of the 300 block of East Dundee Road, was charged with domestic battery at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13.

BURGLARY

A resident reported that a white male came to her door at 4 p.m. Aug. 9 on the 1-100 block of University Drive and stated that he would be installing a fence for the neighbor and wanted to show the resident exactly where. The resident followed him to the patio and he encouraged her to come deeper into the yard. He then received several cell phone calls and said that he had to leave. When the resident went back into her house, she saw another individual, wearing a white T-shirt, leaving through the front door. The two got into a black van or sport utility vehicle with a chrome front bumper, double rear doors and no side windows. When the resident checked, she found that most of her jewelry was missing from the bedroom. The white male was described as 5-foot-10 and weighing at least 200 pounds.

A resident of the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane reported that when she returned home at 11 p.m. Aug. 12, she found a box on her bed and the nightstand was open. She then noted a breeze coming from the living room, and found the sliding glass door standing ajar. In checking further, the resident discovered that jewelry and $1,543 in cash were missing from her second bedroom. The sliding door has a pry mark near the locking mechanism.

Someone entered at vehicle on Aug. 13 on the 1000 block of Alden Lane and removed a wallet and two CDs. The resident stated that he locked his vehicle. When the resident went to lock the vehicle to show the officer, it was found that the driver-side door did not lock. There were no signs of forced entry.

A resident of the 1100 block of Alden Lane reported that someone entered the residence and removed a flat-screen TV from the living room and one from the kitchen between 5:45-6:50 p.m. Aug. 13. There were no signs of forced entry into the house. A neighborhood canvass did not garner any information.

Denis Serdobintsev, 17, of the 2300 block of Hunters Lane, Round Lake Beach, was charged with burglary and theft at 6 a.m. Aug. 12 in connection with an incident on April 16 on the 200 block of Winding Oak Lane.

DISPUTE

A resident reported Aug. 12 that a terminated caregiver would not return the keys to the residence. An officer spoke with the caregiver, who turned in the keys at the police station.

A complainant stated that while exiting her vehicle on Aug. 13 at Jewel, her car door struck the vehicle beside her. The occupant of that vehicle got out and began screaming at the complainant. When officers arrived, both subjects had calmed down and apologized to each other.

DRUGS

Ashton R. Wasserman, 18, of the 4800 block of Christine Court, Long Grove, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 6:45 p.m. Aug. 14 on Springside Lane and Farrington Drive. A resident’s report that occupants of a vehicle emptied a bong onto her front lawn at 6 p.m. led to the charges. An officer located the vehicle and as he approached, he detected a fresh smell of burnt cannabis. Located in the vehicle was a baggie with a green leafy substance, a bong and small smoking pipe with residue and a water bottle containing an alcoholic beverage. A juvenile passenger was turned over to her parents.

FRAUD

A pharmacist at reported Aug. 4 that a female in her 20s has been receiving fraudulent prescriptions at the Buffalo Grove pharmacy and the Highland Park pharmacy since July 5. The doctor, whose prescription pad was used, was notified. Loss prevention will review the digital security cameras to determine if the offender can be identified.

INVESTIGATION

Complainants reported Aug. 13 that a young acquaintance has posted explicit photos of herself on Facebook. An officer was not able to access the account and passed this information on to the juvenile investigators.

A loss-prevention official at Jewel reported that audits indicated a shortage of controlled substances at the Buffalo Grove pharmacy and the Mundelein pharmacy between June 10 and Aug. 12. A particular pharmacy technician works at both locations. An investigation continues.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported Aug. 12 that her former boyfriend continues to communicate with her by calling, texting and emailing. The resident does not want these communications and requested the officer to tell the ex to stop. An officer spoke with the ex who agreed to stop.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone spray-painted graffiti on the back wall of a building and on a Dumpster between 8 p.m. Aug. 12 and 1 p.m. Aug. 14 on the 900 block of Deerfield Parkway. An officer contacted a company official and advised him that the graffiti needed to be removed as soon as possible.

The owner of a vehicle reported Aug. 13 that someone poured a corrosive substance onto the driver’s side while it was parked on the 2300 block of Acorn Place, resulting in the paint being removed.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 2200 block of Avalon Drive reported that a neighbor saw a middle-age woman digging up plants from the resident’s front yard at 9 p.m. Aug. 12. When the neighbor approached the woman, she took off. An officer checked the area with negative results.

THEFT

A resident reported an unauthorized $228.43 online purchase using his account on Aug. 11. The bank closed the account and denied a second attempted purchase in the amount of $1,300.

An official at a business on the 300 block of Half Day Road reported $100 missing from a cash drawer between 7 p.m. Aug. 11 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
