Police Blotter: Bike Found; Video Games, Drill Stolen

These were among the reports released May 17 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

COMPLAINT

A resident of the 1-100 block of Oak Creek Drive reported that she was approached by a neighbor who used profanity in telling her to stop pounding the floor at 3:30 p.m. May 16. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who denied using profanity. The neighbor went to the resident and apologized for his actions. The resident was unreceptive to the apology and returned to her apartment.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A complainant reported May 13 that his ex-father-in-law told him that he would be coming after him for tax evasion, stealing money from him and making secret deals with the ex’s old business partner. The ex also told the complainant that he would be making life very difficult for him and his family. The complainant did not want the ex contacted due to ongoing court cases.

FOUND BIKE

A resident turned in a yellow and silver Schwinn Thrasher bike at 3 p.m. May 16 that he found in a wooded area near Meridian Middle School.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A resident of the 400 block of Highland Grove Drive reported that she and her children saw a full-size gray or silver van drive through the neighborhood five or six times between 8 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. May 16. The resident could not provide a license plate or description of the driver.

THEFT

Someone made six unauthorized charges totaling $955 to a resident’s account, the victim reported May 16. All six transactions took place online. The bank has been notified.

Someone made an unauthorized $303 withdrawal from a resident’s account, the victim reported May 5. The transaction took place in Chicago.

A resident reported three video games and a drill with charger were taken from her home between May 11-14. The games are valued at $185 and the drill is valued at $300. The resident suspects one of her daughter’s friends.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A official at a business on the 1200 block of Barclay Boulevard reported that one employee altered computer records in order for another employee to draw sales commissions for sales that he did not make between Dec. 1, 2010 and April 22, 2011. Both employees have been terminated. An internal audit is being conducted in order to determine the loss.
