Police Blotter: Bank Account Thefts, Naked Drivers

These were among the reports released May 3 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

LITTERING COMPLAINT

A resident reported May 2 that from time to time she finds litter on her lawn. The resident feels that since she is Asian, someone is targeting her. An officer explained that the wind could easily have blown the items that she described onto her lawn.  The resident has had no other issues or incidents.

PUBLIC INDECENCY

A 15-year-old resident was confronted by a male driver of a black car at 5:45 p.m. May 2 on the 2900 block of Sandalwood Road. The driver had exposed himself, police said, and “pointed at the resident and then at his exposure.” The driver was described as a heavy-set, bald, white male wearing an orange-and-yellow striped shirt. The car was described as a smaller black car with black rims. The neighborhood was checked with negative results.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/VEHICLE

A complainant reported a male subject without clothing was sitting in a BMW at 5:30 p.m. May 2 in a parking lot on the 1300 block of West Dundee Road. The car was gone when officers arrived.

A resident reported a vehicle without license plates at 11 p.m. May 2 on the 1-100 block of Lake Boulevard. An officer ran the VIN and spoke with the registered owner who stated that she gave the car to her parents and kept her license plates. The parents reside on Lake Boulevard.

THEFT

A resident reported May 1 that someone made two unauthorized withdrawals from her account. The transactions took place in Skokie. The account has been canceled.

A resident reported that someone made two unauthorized withdrawals from her account totaling $490 between April 7 and May 2. The transactions took place in California. The account has been credited.

A resident reported April 30 that someone made four unauthorized withdrawals from her account totaling $811.80. The transactions took place in California. The account has been closed.

A resident reported April 29 that someone made four unauthorized withdrawals from her account. The transactions took place in California. The account has been closed.

A resident reported April 29 that someone made two unauthorized withdrawals from his account totaling $710. One was made in California the other in Minnesota. The account has been closed.

A resident reported May 1 that two unauthorized withdrawals were made from her account, totaling $605.95. The transactions took place in California. 

A resident reported April 30 that someone attempted to make two transfers from her account totaling $13,000.  The activity has been reported to the bank.

A resident reported May 2 that someone made two unauthorized withdrawals from her account totaling $803.00. The transactions took place in California.

A resident reported April 30 that someone made an unauthorized withdrawal from her account in the amount of $303. The transaction took place in California. 

A resident reported that while cleaning out his deceased mother’s house, he found that a number of pieces of jewelry were missing. The jewelry is valued at $21,950. A number of people had access to the home.

A restaurant owner on the 700 block of South Buffalo Grove Road reported that two customers owe him $244.99 for food ordered but not paid for. An officer contacted the customers and left a voice message instructing them to make payment.

The supervisor of a construction site at Plum Grove Circle and Arlington Heights reported that someone unknown took a 2,000-pound concrete breaker between April 30 and May 2.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident reported April 30 that after her letter to the editor of a newspaper was published, she received a vulgar and obscene letter. The letter came in a plain envelope and was not signed. 

A resident reported May 3 that he made an online agreement last month to trade motorcycle seats with a subject in Tennessee. The seats were mailed with the stipulation that if either party was not satisfied with the seat they could be traded back. The resident was not satisfied with the seat he received and the subject in Tennessee denied the agreement and is keeping his. The resident was advised that this issue is a civil matter.
