Police Blotter: Bank Account Thefts, DUIs and Kids Pointing Fake Guns

These were among the reports released May 9 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

ALCOHOL

Jorge Origuela, 28, of the 1300 block of East Inverrary Lane, Palatine, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, resisting a peace officer, driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving while uninsured, and two bond forfeiture warrants at 12:35 a.m., May 6 west bound Lake Cook Road at Milwaukee Avenue.

Kevin Phillip Blum, 24, of the 1200 block of West Oakton St., Arlington Heights was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, at 3:40 a.m., May 6, on the 1000 block of Whitehall Drive.

Amanda Inez Bonuso, 31, of the 3600 block of North Lake Shore Dr., Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and illegal transportation of open alcohol, at 6:40 p.m., May 8, on Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads.

A complainant reported a subject driving recklessly through the parking lot at Versailles, 100 N. McHenry Road, at 3:30 a.m., May 8, and hitting other cars. The officer found no damage to any vehicle in the parking lot. The subject was located at the Burger King Restaurant, his vehicle parked also without damage. The complainant did not want to get involved so the subject was driven home and the car keys given to the wife.

DRUG POSSESSION

Grigoriy Antonio Kogan, 23, 400 block of Pleasant Run Drive, Wheeling, was charged for driving without a valid license,  speeding, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia at 11:45 p.m. May 7 on Dundee and Old Arlington Heights roads.

DYING TREES

A resident of the 400 block of Lamont Terrace reported May 3 that a nursery planted two trees in her back yard last fall. The trees have a one-year warranty. The evergreen trees are turning brown and she wants them replaced. The official from the nursery told the resident that the trees are not dead, but the soil around the trees needs treatment. The resident will follow up with her attorney.

FIREARMS

A complainant stated that his father passed away and while cleaning the home  he found two rifles, two pistols and a bottle of BBs. The complainant requested that the items be destroyed.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident of the 900 bloc of Hobson Drive, reported receiving a number of calls from a male called Richard and one called John, between 8:30 a.m., May 5, and 4:30 p.m., May 6.  They questioned the resident about a charge on his credit account and seemed trying to obtain his account information.  The resident was instructed to check his account and credit report and he was given *57 instructions.

A resident of the 1100 block of Lockwood Court West on May 7 stated that his son was having friends over for a sleep over and one of the boys is getting numerous phone calls from another boy who was using racial slurs. The officer attempted to contact the other boy and left a voice message for him to stop the calls.

A resident of the 100 block of Wildflower Circle reported that one of his former employees continues to call. The former employee is upset because the resident kept money out of his final paycheck for damage that the former employee caused to the resident’s car. The former employee made threats to come to the resident’s house. The officer attempted to contact the former employee and left a message with a female for him to call back.

LITTERING

 A resident  of the 500 block of Indian Spring Lane reported that someone unknown intentionally left an empty Diet Coke can and a piece of paper in the parkway across from her home, between 10 p.m., May 6, and 8 a.m., May 7.  The resident stated that she did not see anyone place the items and believes that the wind could not have blown them there.  The resident was not open to the suggestion that the trash was placed randomly or blew there.  She feels someone is trying to upset her.

 

NOISE COMPLAINT

A resident of 3 Villa Verde Drive reported at 5 a.m. May 7 that his upstairs neighbor frequently works out and drops weights on the floor and the neighbor’s wife runs in place causing the ceiling to shake. The officer spoke with the neighbor who stated that he has no weights or bench press machine in his apartment, nor does he ever work out in his home, and his wife lives in Bulgaria. The neighbor invited the officers into the apartment to verify that no equipment exists. The resident stated that he would make more effort in determining where the noise is coming from.

ORDINANCE VIOLATION

At 8:45 a.m. May 6 a complainant on Frances Court reported that the grass was too long at a vacant neighboring house. The officer contacted the real estate firm and advised them of the complaint. They stated they would have someone out in a couple of days to cut the grass.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 200 block of St. Mary’s Parkway stated, at noon, May 5, that someone unknown broke the door handle on the back door of the house.  It is unknown if someone was trying to get into the house; the dead bolt was engaged.  The resident has also been getting hang up calls since the posting of his wife’s obituary in the paper. An extra watch has been initiated.

After a resident reported that his curbside mailbox had been damaged on the 1300 block of Witney Lane,  the officer located an additional six mailboxes that were damaged. The damage happened between 10 p.m., May 7, and 8 a.m., May 8.

SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE

At 9:35 p.m. May 6 a resident of the 600 block of Weidner Road, saw a male subject looking into his lower level condo window. The resident walked out and asked what the subject was doing. The subject stated that he was looking for his boy. The subject then took off running. The area was checked by officers with negative results.

A complainant reported being approached by a male subject in the parking lot at 2 Oak Creek Drive at 11 p.m. May 8 who identified himself as a security officer for the complex. The subject told the complainant to leave since he does not live there. The complainant stated he was living with his girlfriend and left. The complex has no security officers and police officers located the subject the complainant described.  The subject was checked out and there were no wants or warrants, he was admonished about posing as a security officer and was allowed to leave.

 

THEFT

 A resident  of the 1100 block of Windbrooke Drive, reported that between noon and 5 p.m., May 2, someone unknown made two unauthorized withdrawals from his account in the amount of $706.  The transactions were made in California.  The bank will reimburse the resident.

Between 9 a.m. and noon on May 2, someone unknown made two unauthorized withdrawals from the account of a resident on the 400 block of Castlewood Lane, in the amount of $1,005.50. The bank will reimburse the loss.

YOUTH COMPLAINTS

At 9:25 a.m., May 6, a complainant reported a number of youth that were smoking in the area of Palazzo Court and Palazzo Drive. The officer located three female youths who denied smoking.

Complainant reported at 6:35 p.m. May 6 that four youths were burning toilet paper near the pool clubhouse at Willow Stream Park, 600 Farrington Drive. The officer located the youths who stated that they found a lighter in the park and admitted to burning the paper. The 10- and 12-year-old youths were turned over to their parents.

At 7:20 p.m. May 7 a complainant reported that youths were pointing a gun shaped object with a laser light, at vehicles in the parking lot at 450 West Half Day Road.  The youths then got into a car and left the area. A Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy located the car and youths and found that one of them had a silver gun shaped laser pointer. The officer contacted the parents who came to pick up their sons. The officer made it very clear to the parents and the youths how dangerous a situation the boys placed themselves into.
