Police Blotter: Abandoned Cat, Supplies Left on Doorstep

These were among the reports released March 21 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

ALCOHOL

Michael Pechony, 32, of the 3100 block of Dundee Road, Northbrook, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license (for DUI), screeching tires, speeding, illegal lane usage, improper lane change without a signal, failure to wear a seat belt, driving without insurance and violation of an ignition interlock device at 1:10 a.m. March 19 on Lake-Cook Road at Arlington Heights Road.

Loren Edward Hidalgo, 35, of the 2400 block of Bayside Drive, Palatine, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding at 1 a.m. March 20 on southbound Arlington Heights Road need Beechwood Road.

Angela M. Miles, 33, of the 1100 block of Applewood Lane, Algonquin, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding at 1:50 a.m. March 20 on westbound Dundee Road at Weidner Road.

Francisco M. Cancino, 27, of the 700 block of South Providence Lane, Round Lake, was charged with driving under the influence and illegal lane usage at 3:45 a.m. March 20 on northbound McHenry Road at Buffalo Grove Road.

David M. Gianneschi, 21, of the 300 block of North Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane usage and driving without insurance at 5 a.m. March 20 on eastbound Dundee Road east of Cambridge Drive.

ANIMAL STORIES

A resident of the 200 block of Downing Road reported that someone unknown left a cat on her doorstep on March 16. Two days later, someone unknown left a can of cat food on the doorstep. Another two days later, someone left a bag containing a cat bowl, a new bag of dry cat food, a can of wet cat food and an outfit for the cat that said “Talk to the Tail.” The resident did not have the cat in custody at that time.

BATTERY

Alex Ranczynski, 65, of the 600 block of Grove Drive, Buffalo Grove was charged with domestic battery at 4:30 p.m. March 18.

BURGLARY

Someone entered two trucks and removed three power tools between 4:30 p.m. 6 a.m. March 18 at a business on the 200 block of Lexington Drive. There were no evident signs of forced entry.

Someone entered a resident’s vehicle and removed a coin purse from the center console between 7 p.m. March 17 and 7:15 a.m. March 18 on the 1200 block of Mill Creek Drive. The purse contained about $25 in change. There were no signs of forced entry.

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed a cell phone between 5 p.m. March 17 and 5 p.m. March 18 on the 1-100 block of Crestview Terrace. A person called the resident stating that she found the resident’s cell phone in her backyard.  The resident retrieved her phone.

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed the navigation system between 9:30 p.m. March 19 and 10 a.m. March 20 on the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway.

DRIVING COMPLAINT

A complainant stated that the driver of a small green vehicle cut him off at 8:20 p.m. March 19 on the 1500 block of Dundee Road and he wanted police to speak with that driver. The 16-year-old driver, who was at Burger King, admitted to the officer that he made a right turn on red without stopping. The officer had the boy call his father and relate what happened and a warning citation was issued.

DRUGS

Aaron C. Holzinger, 22, of the 500 block of Lake-Cook Road, Palatine,  was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with one head lamp at 1:50 a.m. March 20 on eastbound Dundee Road at Crofton Lane.

Kevin M. Hoth, 28, of the 1000 block of Crofton Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:50 a.m. March 20 on Dundee Road at Crofton Lane.

LOST ITEM

A complainant reported March 18 that he lost his chauffeur’s driver’s license, which he last remembered having at Dominick’s, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road.

MISSING JUVENILE

A resident reported that her 16-year-old daughter left the house without permission, following an argument, at 11:20 p.m. March 20. It was the fifth incident this year. The girl returned home at 12:10 a.m. March 21 and was cited for curfew violation.

NOISE COMPLAINT

A resident of the 1100 block of Miller Lane reported March 19 that his downstairs neighbor bangs on the ceiling all day long. An officer spoke with the neighbor who stated that the resident’s little boy runs all day long every day. Both were advised to be tolerant while living in a multi-family dwelling.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A complainant reported that a store employee damaged her vehicle while moving a shopping cart at 2 p.m. March 18 at Dominick’s, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road. An officer observed a smudge/scratch on the left rear fender. The store manager took a report.

Someone scratched the passenger side and hood of a vehicle between 11 p.m. March 20 and 1 a.m. March 21 in a parking lot on the 300 block of North McHenry Road.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 100 block of Woodstone Drive stated that he found a letter taped to his garage door on March 18 telling the resident to get out of the house. An officer called the phone number provided and that person stated that he bought the house from the Lake County Sheriff at auction and he wanted the resident out. The officer asked the resident if he had legal standing to be in the home and he stated no. He was asked to depart.

THEFT

A resident was informed by a cell phone provider on March 18 that someone was using the resident’s ID to open two phone accounts. The resident will notify the credit bureaus.
