Police Blotter: A Dozen Teens Charged With Underage Drinking

These were among the reports released Feb. 7 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

ALCOHOL

Police charged 12 teenagers with underage possession and consumption of alcohol after a citizen reported juveniles entering and leaving a residence at 10:20 p.m. Feb. 5 on the 300 block of Checker Drive. When officers arrived, juveniles were seen leaving the back of the house and running.

  • Victorial L. Williams, 18, of the 1-100 block of Hawthorn Woods
  • Alyssa L. Gutkin, 18, of the 5800 block of Partridge Lane, Hawthorn Woods
  • Stanislav Zilberman, 19, of the 400 block of Mallard Drive, Riverwoods
  • A 15-year-old Hawthorn Woods resident
  • A 16-year-old Buffalo Grove resident, who was also charged with public nuisance assemblage
  • A 16-year-old Lincolnshire resident
  • A 16-year-old Hawthorn Woods resident
  • A 17-year-old Barrington Hills resident
  • A 17-year-old Lincolnshire resident
  • A 17-year-old Buffalo Grove resident

BURGLARY

Cameras, tools and golf clubs were among the items reported missing from 32 Feb. 2-3.

Windows were broken on two cars and a navigation system was taken between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 4 on the 1100 block of Lake-Cook Road.

A car window was broken and a navigation system was taken between 5 p.m. Feb. 4 and 2:40 a.m. Feb. 5 on the 300 block of North McHenry Road.

Someone burglarized between 9 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8:10 a.m. Feb. 5. The complainant reported the cash register drawer was ajar and money was missing. A filing cabinet in the back room was pried but nothing was missing from it. There were no signs of forced entry to the front or back doors.

Officers responded to an active alarm between 6-7:15 a.m. at a business on the 1600 block of Buffalo Grove Road and found a rear door open. The interior was checked and nothing appeared out of place. The owner responded and determined that cash was missing from the register.

CITIZEN ASSIST

A resident who had walked to found it difficult to walk through the heavy snow on her way home at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 4. An officer gave the resident a ride home and took her groceries inside. The officer learned that the resident’s refrigerator does not work and the resident advised that she does not have the funds to have it replaced. The resident was referred to the police department’s social worker.

MISSING JUVENILE

A resident reported that her 17-year-old daughter left the house following an argument at 10 p.m. Feb. 4. The teen’s mother believed that someone may have been waiting to pick her up, but did not know with whom or where the daughter might be.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident stated that his ex-girlfriend had harassed him by showing up at his residence, sending email and text messages from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6. An officer spoke with the ex, who stated that she was attempting to notify the resident that she knows he has cheated on her and their relationship was over. Both were advised to leave each other alone.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

An officer on patrol on Feb. 6 noticed that someone had left graffiti on the back wall of a store on the 1700 block of Buffalo Grove Road. The manager was notified.

THEFT

A resident stated that when she returned home from shopping at at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 3, she found that she did not have her purse. The resident did not know if someone took the purse from her shopping cart or if she left it behind. No one turned the purse into customer service.

A 14-year-old Wheeling resident was charged with theft at 9:35 a.m. Feb. 4 at Buffalo Grove High School.

VANDALISM

Someone egged the rear of a house on the 900 block of Old Arlington Court between 11:30 p.m. Feb. 5 and 10:55 p.m. Feb. 6.
