Police Blotter: $49,000 in Jewelry Reported Missing

ANIMALS

A resident reported that as she was walking her dog at 5:45 p.m. March 6 on the 200 block of Thornapple Court, another dog jumped out of a car and attacked the resident’s dog, biting it on the right rear leg and the stomach area. The victim was taken to an animal hospital. The offender, which had a valid license and rabies vaccination, has been confined to its home.

COMPLAINT

A resident of the 100 block of White Branch Court reported March 6 that her upstairs neighbor’s humidifier makes a lot of noise and the dog upstairs urinates on the resident’s balcony. An officer attempted to contact the neighbor without success.

A resident reported at 7 p.m. March 6 that his neighbor was yelling at her child very loudly and that it sounded as though items were being thrown. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who stated that she yelled at her son because he swore at her. The neighbor agreed to keep her yelling at a lower level in the future.

A customer at H&R Block, 56 W. Dundee Road, arrived at 9:50 a.m. March 6 and demanded her tax paperwork, which she had dropped off the previous week. When the customer was told that her assigned tax preparer was not there at the time, she became irate and used profanity. An official gave a police officer the paperwork and requested that he give it to the customer with instructions for her not to return.

IMPROPER SECURITY

A resident of the 1100 block of Larraway Drive reported an open garage door at a neighbor’s home at noon March 6. An officer checked and found no one at home. Officers gained entry into the house checked it and found it secure. The house was locked and a message was left for the resident.

LOST/FOUND ITEMS

A complainant reported losing his black wallet at 3:30 p.m. March 5 in a parking lot on the 100 block of McHenry Road. The wallet contained a driver’s license, $100 cash, and a credit and debit card.

A self-employed jeweler reported a red silk pouch containing jewelry was missing from her purse on March 6. The jeweler did not know how or where the pouch went missing. The jewelry’s wholesale value was reported at $49,430.

A complainant reported finding a baby carrier sitting on the sidewalk at 6:50 p.m. March 6 on the 100 block of Dundee Road. The carrier was beige, brown and blue and had Disney inscribed on the padding. The carrier was taken to the .

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A youth stated that he was sitting on a bench at 5:25 p.m. March 6 on side of a store on the 1-100 block of North Buffalo Grove Road when a two-door blue vehicle with a California license plate pulled into the parking lot in front of the youth. The white male driver, who was in his 40s, rolled down the window and asked the youth whether he wanted some vodka. When the youth said no, the driver left. The area was checked with negative results. An officer contacted the youth’s mother and explained what had transpired. 

THEFT

A resident of the 100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road reported that someone emptied her storage locker and placed a new lock on the hasp between Feb. 14 and Feb.25. The resident has contacted her renter’s insurance company. 

WELL-BEING CHECK

Officers responded to an intoxicated guest who was threatening to harm herself at 5:05 p.m. March 6 at . Paramedics transported the guest to the hospital.
