Police Blotter: Missing Juvenile

ARRESTS
Karen Ivette Neri, 18, of the 800 block of Colonial Drive, Wheeling, was charged with having a suspended driver’s license, driving too fast for conditions, not wearing a seat belt and being uninsured. She was stopped at 5:50 a.m. on Dec. 21 on Weiland Road at Deerfield Parkway.

Oscar Alvarez, 26, of the 2300 block of South Cannon Drive, Mount Prospect, was charged with having no valid driver’s license, speeding and illegal transportation of open liquor. He was stopped at 1:05 a.m. on Dec. 22 on Dundee Road at Weidner Road.

Arnold Fernando Mendiola, 21, of the 1000 block of Knollwood Drive, Schaumburg, was charged with having a suspended driver’s license and speeding. He was stopped at 7:35 a.m. on Dec. 22 on Half Day Road at Millbrook Drive.

Virginia Medina, 30, of the 500 block of Wetumka Court, Wheeling, was charged with having no valid driver’s license, and with failure to yield turning left. She was stopped at 8:05 a.m. on Dec. 22 on Buffalo Grove Road at Lake Cook Road.

Maria Ofelia Carias, 55, of the 9100 block of Church Street, Des Plaines, was charged with having a suspended driver’s license and with disobeying a traffic control device (red light). She was stopped at 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 22 on Checker Road at McHenry Road.

Jenette J. Zisman, 35, of the 800 block of Essington Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with domestic battery. The incident occurred between 4 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the 800 block of Essington Lane.

Benjamin Gerald Zeller, 22, of the 200 block of North Normal, Macomb, was charged with possession of marijuana. He was stopped at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 at Dundee Road west of Buffalo Grove Road.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A resident reported pry marks on the front door near the door knob in the500 block of Springside Lane. The incident occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 24. The resident stated that his dog had been barking at 4am. The outside of the home was checked and nothing out of the ordinary was found.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A resident of the 100 block of Bel Aire Drive reported that someone unknown cut two strings of Christmas lights in his front yard. The incident occurred sometime between Occurred between Dec. 8 and Dec. 15.

FORGERY
A store clerk reported that two male subjects came into the store to purchase money orders and some of the $20 bills presented were checked and found to be counterfeit. The incident occurred on at 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 21 at the Jewel store at 79 North McHenry Road. The store manager was able to copy down the license plate of the vehicle the subjects left in.

MISSING JUVENILE

A father in the 100 block of Old Oak Drive reported that his 16 year old daughter has not returned home, and that this has occurred in the past. The incident occurred between 1 p.m. on  Dec. 22 and 1:55 a.m. on Dec. 23. An officer called the girl’s cell phone but did not receive an answer. The officer pinged the cell phone and received a location in Hawthorn Woods but the girl was not there. The girl was entered into LEADS.

SOLICITOR COMPLAINT
Resident reported a solicitor in the building in the 800 block of Miller Lane at 5 p.m. on Dec. 23. The officer located the solicitor who stated that she works for Liberty Power and is attempting to change residents from ComEd to her company. The solicitor did not have a permit and she was asked to quit.

STRAY DOG
A resident found a large mixed breed dog in his back yard in the 1300 block of Larchmont Drive at 3 p.m. on Dec. 25. The dog had a collar but no tags. A chip was located and the officer was informed that the owner had not updated the information. The chip company stated that the dog has been reported as found on four occasions. The dog was taken to Kings Kennel.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Store manager stated at Noodles and Co., 1209 West Dundee Road, stated that three male subjects came into the store and attempted a quick change scam at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 21. When the subjects realized that the scam was not working, they left.  The manager provided a license plate of the car.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON
A resident in the 1000 block of Hidden Lake Drive stated that when her doorbell rang she observed a male subject at the front door holding a hammer. When she did not answer the door, the subject departed. The incident occurred at occurred 4:45pm on Dec. 21. It is believed that the subject left in a white van.

THEFT
A theft occurred between 12/17 and 12/18 at 642 Buckthorn Terrace. A resident reported that someone unknown cut down one of her Fir Trees in her back yard.  The tree is one of 22; it is green and about four feet tall.

UNWANTED SUBJECT
Complainant reported a male subject that was sleeping in the vestibule at the Riverwalk, 2100 Lake Cook Road. Officers contacted the subject at 5:25 a.m. on Dec. 22 who stated that he works in the building and that he was sleeping prior to attending a class on DUI. The subject was brought to the station and his mother was contacted. When his mom arrived at the station, the subject got out of control, attempted to hurt himself, an officer and a paramedic. The subject was transported to NWCH by the paramedics.
