Police Blotter: Argument Breaks Out Over Soccer Game

ALCOHOL

Chang H. Kim, 38, of the 3200 block of Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane use and driving while sending/reading/composing text messages at 1:30 a.m. July 4 on Buffalo Grove Road at Checker Road.

ANIMALS

An officer responded to a report of a cock-a-poo with a multicolored collar that was running loose at 11 a.m. July 3 on the 1200 block of Weiland Road. Due to the heat and the exhaustion of the dog, it was taken directly to Kings Kennel. The dog had no tags or chip.

A resident turned in a white and brown dog that she found wandering in a parking lot on the 1100 block of Windbrooke Drive at 4:45 p.m. July 4. The dog had no collar or tags. The owner of the dog came to the station and retrieved his pet.

A citizen turned in a 1- to 2-year-old black Lab mix with a bit of white on his chest, to . The dog, which had no chip or tags, was found on Weidner Road north of Dundee Road. The dog will stay at the animal hospital for 10 days to have the owner claim him. If the dog is not claimed, it will be put up for adoption.

BATTERY

Jeffrey W. Byham, 46, of the 9000 block of Franklin Pike, Meadville, Penn., was charged with domestic battery and interfering with the report of domestic violence at 6:15 p.m. July 3 at .

DISPUTE

A resident reported a fight between four or five people at 8:50 p.m. July 5 at . The scuffle was over a foul during a soccer game. There was pushing and shoving and one player was struck in the face. No complaints were signed and both teams agreed not to play against one another in the future.

Officers responded to a street argument among six people at 10:55 p.m. July 5 on the 300 block of Foxford Drive. The people were arguing over fireworks, and threats were made. The two neighboring families were told to stay away from each other.

LOST ITEM

A complainant reported that she left her wallet in a shopping cart at at 4 p.m. July 5, and when she returned to find it at 6 p.m., the wallet was gone. The wallet contained an Illinois driver’s license, Social Security card, a check and three credit cards. The complainant was given instructions on canceling the cards and obtaining a new driver’s license.

NOISE COMPLAINT

Officers responded to a report of a loud party at 12:20 a.m. July 5 at the clubhouse at 1000 Fremont Way. The party was shut down and the guests departed.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone egged a car and caused damage to the windshield, the left front fender, the roof and the driver-side window on July 3 on the 400 block of Parkview Terrace.

A resident of the 1400 block of Winston Drive reported July 5 that her insurance adjuster noted dents in the siding when he was checking the chimney. The adjuster stated that the dents are not weather related. There are 20 to 30 dents in the siding.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
 
A resident of Oak Creek Drive reported smelling burnt cannabis through her ventilation system from 3 to 9:15 p.m. July 3. Officers went to the suspect units and found no one at home. Officers did not smell any odors.

THEFT
 
A employee reported that two Frisbee golf tee box signs were removed from between July 2 and July 4. Each sign is valued at $300.

A resident reported that his daughter took a credit card out of her mother’s purse and made an unauthorized purchase of $216 between 5 p.m. July 3 and 7 a.m. July 4. The family will discuss the incident.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 300 block of Foxford Drive reported at 8:30 a.m. July 4 that someone egged his home overnight.

OTHER INCIDENTS
 
A resident reported July 3 that someone opened accounts in his name without his authorization. The accounts are now in collections. The resident is working with the credit agencies to resolve the issue.
