Buffalo Grove firefighters were given an impromptu water rescue training Sept. 26 after a resident reported that his cat jumped into a lake.
Buffalo Grove police received a report at 3 p.m. Sept. 26 from a resident of the 200 block of Fox Hill, who said that his cat, which was inside a cage, escaped when the cage broke while the owner was carrying it from his car to his home.
The cat jumped into a lake behind the resident’s home and “swam to the nearby island,” police said.
Officers said they could hear the cat, but they couldn’t see it, so they called the fire department for assistance.
The cat was located following “a detailed search,” police said, and returned to its owner.
