DUI Charges, Vehicles Burglarized

ALCOHOL

Mario A. Velez, 30, of the 2200 block of Greenfield, Glenview, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane use, expired registration, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to notify the Secretary of State of change at 11:44 p.m. Oct. 10 at Dundee and Grove.

Jay S. Barron, 23,  of the 100 block of Park, Glenview, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit and speeding at 11:15 p.m. Oct. 11 on Half Day and Apple Hill.

Mark J. Kovbach, 53,  of the 100 block of Fairway, Itasca, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit and driving without insurance at 2:29 p.m. Oct. 13 on Buffalo Grove Road.

ANIMALS 

A resident reported finding a stray dog at 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at Pauline and Woodbury. Officers took possession of the large, black dog. The dog was scanned and a chip was located. Officers contacted the owner, who went to the police department to pick up the dog.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 700 block of Weidner Road reported someone entered his vehicle and stole several items while it was parked in the driveway between Oct.14-15. There were no signs of forced entry. 

A resident of the 600 block of Hapsfield reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle between Oct. 9-10 and removed two rings. Officers did not observe any forced entry. 

A resident of the 600 block of Golfview reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS and a radar detector while the vehicle was parked in the driveway between Oct. 14-15.

COMPLAINT

A resident of the 700 block of Grove reported loud noises coming from a nearby resident at 10:18 a.m. Oct. 14. Officers met with both residents to provide mediation.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A complainant reported receiving a call on Oct. 15 from a man claiming to work for ComEd. The caller stated the complainant owed him money and he needed to pay or risk having his electric service turned off. The complainant realized this was a scam and didn’t give the caller any information. 

DRUGS

William C. Foley, 28, of the 200 block of Crestview, Wauconda, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructed windshield at 4:54 p.m. Oct. 15 on Praire and Aptakisic.

IDENTITY THEFT

A complainant reported an unauthorized account was opened with a credit organization using his personal information between Aug. 1 and Oct. 8.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A complainant reported receiving several harassing emails from a former client between Oct. 9-10. Officers contacted with the former client who was told to cease all communications. 

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A complainant reported an occupied vehicle that was parked near their store at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 on the 1200 block of Dundee Road. Officers spoke with the driver who was there for a legitimate purpose. 

THEFT

A commercial air compressor was reported stolen from a job site between Oct. 11-14 near Aptaksic and Buffalo Grove roads.
