Driver Sought in Hit-and-Run Crash with Injuries

After causing a crash at Lake Cook Road and McHenry Road on Dec. 27, the driver of a vehicle left the scene of the accident.

Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded Thursday, Dec. 27 to a hit-an-run personal injury crash at Lake Cook Road and McHenry Road, according to the Arlington Cardinal website. Police received a report that a black GMC Yukon hit a red Pontiac Vibe about 10:45 a.m., the Cardinal reported.

The offending vehicle — the black GMC Yukon — was seen headed northbound on McHenry Road from Lake Cook Road. The Yukon had tinted windows and driver’s side front damage. The left front headlight was also “damaged out” and red paint transfer is likely on the Yukon, the Cardinal reported.

The license on the Yukon was reported to be P57 8044.

Eyewitness William Oliver told Patch that he witnessed the accident and then followed the car that caused the accident.

"I pursued the SUV with a 911 dispatcher all the way behind Eskape on Townplace Pkwy. where I was finally able to relay the full plate number to dispatch," Oliver said. "I returned to the scene to convey the news to the young man who was injured and to officers arriving on the scene."

He provided the picture of the accident taken on his cell phone.

No information is available on the condition of the driver of the Pontiac. Check back to Patch for updates. If you have any information, please contact Buffalo Grove Police at 847-459-2560 or police@vbg.org.

Kudos to the Citizen who followed the driver and was able to remember his license # and report it to the Police
