Deer Leaps From I-90 Overpass, Crashes Through West Dundee Mom's Minivan

The West Dundee mom had four of her five children in the minivan when the crash occurred on Interstate 90 near Route 72 on Sunday, according to media reports.

A West Dundee mom and her four children escaped serious injuries after a deer jumped from an overpass and crashed through the windshield of their minivan on the Jane Addams Tollway near Hoffman Estates Sunday, according to the Daily Herald.

Heidi Conner, 37, was nearing her exit when witnesses told police the 200- to 300-pound deer leapt from the Route 72 overpass about noon on Sunday, the Daily Herald reports. Doctors said the crash could have killed Conner if the deer would have landed just inches to the left.

The deer struck Conner and her son and came to rest with its head in the center console and its body extending into the back seat, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The deer was killed in the collision but Conner and her four children, the youngest of which was 5, were not seriously injured, according to the article.
