Buffalo Grove, Long Grove Firefighters Respond to Wheeling Blaze

was among about a dozen fire departments that responded Thursday night to a house fire on Custer Court, just east of Buffalo Grove Road in Wheeling.

Firefighters were working around 10:45 p.m. on the blaze, which engulfed both stories of the Tahoe Village townhome. They remained on the scene after midnight, when dark smoke continued to pour from the building.

Witnesses said the residents were evacuated by firefighters after a neighbor noticed the fire and called 911.

In addition to Buffalo Grove, Wheeling firefighters were assisted by responders from Long Grove, Rolling Meadows, Elk Grove, Prospect Heights, Palatine, Glenview, Northbrook and Des Plaines.
