The Buffalo Grove Fire Department will host its 17th annual open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at its headquarters, 109 E. Deerfield Parkway.
The event gives citizens the opportunity to see the fire station and equipment up-close and interact with firefighters. Activities will include a children's firefighter challenge and obstacle course, a fire pole, a children’s fire safety house, an auto extrication demonstration, hands-on fire extinguisher training and more. Representatives from NICOR, Metra, Northwest Central Dispatch and other community agencies will be on-hand to answer questions. The Flight-for-Life helicopter is also scheduled to make an appearance.
Hot dogs, firehouse chili and popcorn will be served.
The event will kick off National Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 7-13.
