BG Police Blotters Will Continue

Buffalo Grove's crime prevention unit will still disseminate daily police blotters, at least for now.

Buffalo Grove’s witty police blotter scribe is no longer at the keyboard, but the blotter will continue, the department said Wednesday.

“The Crime Prevention Unit will continue to send out the Police Blotter,” stated a message at the bottom of the Jan. 2 blotter. The note was in response to questions from readers who wondered whether the blotter would continue to be published.

Pete Lippert, who has written the reports for more than five years, sometimes with a humorous tone, retired Dec. 31 after budget cuts eliminated his part-time position.

Lippert’s partner, Crime Prevention Officer Paul Jamil, said Wednesday that the department will continue to post police reports.

“As of now, the Police Blotter will continue mostly as we all know it,” he wrote in an email to Patch. “There may be some modifications in the future. The Crime Prevention Unit will continue to send it out on a daily basis. There may be days where it doesn't get sent out each day and in those situations, we will try and put a couple days into one.”
