BBs Suspected in Car Window Smashings

ALARM

Officers responded to an active alarm at 3:35 p.m. Feb. 24 on the 200 block of Taylor Court and found the front door partially open. Officers searched the interior of the house and found everything in order and secure. An officer left a message for the resident and secured the home.

Scott A. Westgard, 42, of the 400 block of Forest Way Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage at 6:45 a.m. Feb. 25 on Weidner Road at Country Lane.

Geoffrey A. Gletner, 32, of the 2400 block of North Brighton Place, Arlington Heights, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding at 1:05 a.m. Feb. 26 on Arlington Heights Road at Heritage Drive.

Michael N. Oehler, 40, of the 1300 block of Plum Grove Road, Rolling Meadows, was charged with driving under the influence, no rear registration plate and driving without insurance at 2:50 a.m. Feb. 26 on Dundee Road near Weidner Road.

Natasha Zikoya, 30, of the 500 block of Fairway View Drive, Wheeling, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding at 4:10 a.m. Feb. 26 on westbound Lake-Cook Road at Milwaukee Avenue.

COMPLAINTS

A resident reported a group of youths threw snowballs at his car at 10:10 p.m. Feb. 24 on the 800 block of Silver Rock Lane. An officer spoke with the youths and one admitted to throwing the snowballs, stating that it was a dumb thing to do and that he was not thinking. There was no damage to the car.

A resident reported Feb. 24 sending merchandise to an eBay customer, who later sent harassing messages claiming not to have received the merchandise. The officer advised the complainant to contact eBay and have the customer blocked from the account.

A resident of the 900 block of Harvest Circle reported that her upstairs neighbor was making a lot of noise at 5 a.m. Feb. 25. An officer did not detect any noise coming from the neighbor.

A resident of Oak Creek Drive reported a neighbor pounding on doors and yelling at 9:40 a.m. Feb. 26. An officer spoke with the neighbor and stayed until she calmed and went back into her apartment.

A complainant reported that one of his charges struck him and ran out of the house at 7:45 p.m. Feb. 26. The young man had returned to the house, was in his room and quiet.

THEFT

A resident reported Feb. 24 that someone in New York transferred all of his funds from savings to checking and then made three unauthorized withdrawals of $6,600. The accounts have been closed and the bank will follow up.

A resident reported Feb. 21 that his PayPal account had been hacked and that his checking account information was at jeopardy. It was determined that three unauthorized transactions took place in the amount of $4,500. PayPal and the bank are following up.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A restaurant official on the 200 block of McHenry Road reported that someone called ranting and raving, using foul language and making disparaging remarks about employees at 7:40 p.m. Feb. 24. The official was able to get a number by dialing *69. An officer spoke with the caller, who apologized.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A driver reported that his driver’s side window smashed inward while he was driving at 8:15 p.m. Feb. 26 at Lake-Cook and Weiland roads. An officer could not locate a projectile or cause.

A resident of the 1-100 block of Buckingham Lane reported a number of holes in an upstairs window at 8:25 p.m. Feb. 27. An officer observed a number of BBs between the window panes.

A complainant reported his driver’s side window smashed out between 6:30-8:40 p.m. Feb. 26 on the 100 block of Fabish Drive. A dent in the window frame caused the officer to believe the damage was done with a BB.

A complainant reported his driver’s side window was smashed out between 4:15-9:55 p.m. Feb. 26 on the 100 block of Toulon Drive. It appeared that the damage was caused by BBs.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/PERSON

A resident of the 400 block of Foxford Drive reported footprints in the snow around his house between 7:15 p.m. Feb. 25 and 7 a.m. Feb. 26. An officer checked and found nothing suspicious.

A resident of the 2200 block of Miramar Lane reported that a couple came to their home at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 26 and asked to see it because it was for sale. The couple did not have a real estate agent with them and the resident was uncomfortable about this.

TRUANCY

A 14-year-old Buffalo Grove resident was charged with truancy at 8:46 a.m. Feb. 23 at .


WELL-BEING CHECK

A complainant reported Feb. 24 that he spoke with an acquaintance and believed her to be highly intoxicated and in need of assistance. Officers found the acquaintance to be intoxicated and her apartment in disarray. Paramedics transported her to the hospital.

A father reported at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 24 that his son posted a disturbing message on Facebook. He requested that officers check on his son to make sure he was OK. Officers spoke with the mother, who stated that the son was not at home. The mother called her son, who stated that the post was a joke. Officers spoke with the mother and the son later and found the young man to be OK.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident reported that someone used her personal information in September as a result of an accident in Arizona. The resident received a letter from an insurance company notifying her of the incident. The resident was not involved.
