Share Concerns About Weiland, Prairie Roads

Letter to the Editor

The Village of Buffalo Grove wants to make Weiland and Prairie Roads into a four-lane highway. This enormous project will result in higher taxes, three years of construction, loss of homes and green space, more traffic, lower property values, hazardous school zones, and 10-foot noise walls that turn our quiet roads into ugly highway corridors.

To date, Buffalo Grove elected officials have been silent on this massive project.

Buffalo Grove residents who have an interest in our community and property values, should attend this week’s meeting, Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at Buffalo Grove Village Hall, 50 Raupp Blvd. Here’s our chance to hear from Village representatives, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), and the consultant staff – and to share our serious concerns with this project.

I understand this project will cost in the region of $100,000,000!!!! Yes ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. While I also understand 80% of it is projected to be federally and state funded, I want to know where the Village of Buffalo Grove is going to find $20,000,000 especially when they are crying at losing a million dollars from state tax revenue annually.
