Sente to Connect Struggling Homeowners with Resources; Announces Mortgage Relief Workshop

VERNON HILLS, IL – In an effort to provide struggling homeowners with assistance to prevent foreclosure, State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is co-sponsoring a Mortgage Relief Workshop on Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gonzalez Office Center located at 2106 Grand Avenue in Waukegan.

“During these rough economic times, there are families from all socioeconomic classes struggling to keep their homes and make ends meet,” Sente said. “This free workshop will help homeowners become more aware of their rights and the resources available to help them lower their mortgage, avoid foreclosure and most importantly, keep the roof over their heads.”

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations will be available to provide expert advice on foreclosure prevention, and connect homeowners with immediate assistance through the Illinois Foreclosure Prevention Network. This free workshop will educate homeowners about mortgage refinancing, foreclosure prevention, legal rights, credit counseling and more. HUD-certified counselors will also be available during the event to provide confidential, one-on-one counseling to homeowners.

“In Springfield, I have been a vocal proponent of legislation that will fight unfair, skyrocketing property taxes during times when home values are in decline,” Sente said. “It is important to me to not only fight for these families down in Springfield, but also to provide them with the local resources they need to get back on their feet as quickly as possible.”
