Sente to Connect Service Members with Their Families; Announces Cell Phones for Soldiers Drive

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, announced she will be sponsoring a Cell Phones for Soldiers Drive to connect service men and women with their families this holiday season.

“The holidays, when families should be celebrating together, can be very emotional for members of our armed services who are separated from their loved ones by thousands of miles,” Sente said. “I encourage everyone to look into their hearts this winter and consider donating their old cell phones to this noble cause.”

For every gently used cell phone donated valuing more than five dollars, a soldier deployed overseas will receive up to two-and-a-half hours of free talk time to call home to their loved ones. Cell phones can be dropped off at Sente’s full-time constituent service office, located at 430 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Lincolnshire, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week.

“It is important that we show our gratitude to active and retired members of the armed services, as it is thanks to their sacrifices and dedication that we are able to enjoy our freedoms,” Sente said. “As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs committee, honoring and assisting our military personnel is a top priority of mine.”

For more information, or to arrange for a pickup or drop off, please call Sente’s full-time constituent service office at (847) 478-9909, or email RepSente@gmail.com.
