Sente Hosts Second Annual Women's Self-Defense Class
In recognition of April’s Sexual Assault Awareness month, State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, co-sponsored a Women’s Self-Defense Seminar with the Buffalo Grove Police Department on Wednesday night.
“Through my partnership with the Buffalo Grove Police Department, we were able to reach out to women across the community to offer a convenient introductory seminar to teach potentially lifesaving self-defense maneuvers and safety tips that every woman should know,” Sente said. “Through educational events like this and legislative efforts, I am hopeful that we can send a unified message to criminals demonstrating that we will not tolerate their presence in our community.”
During Wednesday’s seminar, attendees learned safety and awareness tips from the Buffalo Grove Police Department, as well as defensive techniques to help avoid attacks. In addition to offering introductory seminars, many local police departments and community organizations offer more intensive self-defense programs. For more information, please contact Sente’s full-time constituent service office at (847) 478-9909, or email RepSente@gmail.com.
