Sente Engages Mundelein High School Students in Civics

State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, visited a Mundelein High School government class on Wednesday with State Representative Ed Sullivan, Jr., R-Mundelein, to share their bipartisan experiences in the state legislature and boost youth engagement in civics.

“One of my top priorities is ensuring our students have access to a world-class education that will allow them to become our future leaders in business, industry, and government,” Sente said. “It was wonderful to see all the enthusiasm and ideas brought forward by these young adults, as it ensures a bright future for them and other students throughout the district.”

Sente is an ongoing advocate of legislation and initiatives aimed at increasing opportunities for children and young adults. Last session, Sente championed an idea for legislation that was brought to her by a local high school government class. This new law, Public Act 98-0051, will allow 17-year-olds to vote in a primary election if they will be 18 by the general election.
