Sente Encourages Holiday Shoppers to Support Local Businesses

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is encouraging shoppers to support small and locally-owned businesses this holiday season, in observance of Small Business Saturday.

“By supporting our small and local businesses, we have the ability to reinvest directly into the future of our community,” Sente said. “As our local businesses grow, so too does the economic strength of our region by attracting new businesses, creating jobs, and building infrastructure.”

The 4th Annual Small Business Saturday will occur on November 30 - one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year. The purpose of Small Business Saturday is to help local businesses compete with large retailers during shopping holidays such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

“Our area businesses help form the backbone of our community,” said Ray Mullen, Executive Director of the GLMV Chamber of Commerce. “By shopping locally, we are not only supporting our neighbors, families and friends, but our local, county, and state economies.”
