Sente Collaborates with Industry; Co-Hosts Manufacturers Roundtable with Abbvie

Vernon Hills, Ill. –State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, held a roundtable meeting with the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and local manufacturers on Friday at AbbVie's corporate headquarters to identify issues and policies affecting the Illinois manufacturing community.

“Our dialogue was very fruitful; it allowed me to hear firsthand the challenges manufacturers in our community are facing and discuss what we can do to address these concerns - such as increasing opportunities to develop a talented workforce.” Sente said. “Illinois has a great deal to offer businesses - especially manufacturers - and for this reason we need to continually collaborate on innovative new ways to retain, expand, and attract manufacturing to Illinois.”

In Springfield, Sente chairs the House Business Growth & Incentives Committee. This year, Sente championed a new law requiring the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to establish a 12-member Business Council comprised of a variety of different private businesses, including large and specialty manufacturing, to develop an annual business plan for Illinois and to suggest legislation.

“As I continue to hold meetings with public officials, business owners, educational leaders, and manufacturers, it is evident that there are opportunities for us all to work together towards a common good,” Sente said. “I look forward to continuing the dialogue with different groups from throughout our community and incorporating their feedback as I shape my legislative agenda for the coming year.”
