Sente Co-Hosting Local Recycle-O-Rama and Shred Day Event

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL –State Representative Carol Sente (D-Vernon Hills) announced on Wednesday that her office is co-hosting a community Recycle-O-Rama and Shred Day Event on Saturday, May 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Southwest Parking Lot of Westfield Hawthorn Mall.

“This event serves as a great opportunity for residents to safely dispose of documents or other personally identifiable information, as well as to drop-off old electronic devices,” Sente said.  “As the former owner of a green architectural firm, I not only understand the importance of  safely disposing confidential documents, but also our responsibility to minimize electronic waste through environmentally friendly community initiatives like the Recycle-O-Rama.”

The Recycle-O-Rama is a drive-through event, where volunteers will remove items to be recycled or shredded on-site from participants’ cars. While the primary focus of the event is electronics collection and paper shredding, gym shoes, batteries, cell phones, printer cartridges, hearing aids, and eyeglasses will also be accepted.

“I am looking forward to co-sponsoring this community event with the Vernon Hills Park District, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO), and Westfield Hawthorn Mall,” Sente said. “It is important for our community leaders and businesses to work together to address the needs of our community, and this event is a prime example of beneficial collaboration.”
