Opposition to gay marriage is the racism of today.

Not allowing anyone to marry is discrimination. Before 1967, 16 states had bans on interracial marriage; I suspect that one day people will look back on this form of discrimination similarly.

Personally, I don't think any God would have a problem with any good person choosing to share their life with another good person, making the world a better and happier place. Those who cite the Bible as a reason to deny people their Constitutional right to the same pursuit of happiness conveniently choose to ignore plenty of things that the very same Bible they cite also says, such as that we should keep slaves. So which is it? Is the Bible something to be interpreted literally or not; because, you can't have it both ways? To those who feel that marriage is only about procreation, so be it; but, by that logic, no one over the age of 55, widowed, divorced or otherwise, should be allowed to marry either. To those who feel that being homosexual is a bad choice or just plain wrong, so be it; however, just like you can disagree with or choose not to live your life according to other people's religions or cultural customs, no one is forcing you to (or even implying that you should) become homosexual, marry someone of the same sex, or even accept homosexuality as something that is good and right (it's a free country, and you are free to have your beliefs). But, just like you are free to believe what you want and live your life how you want, people who are different than you should also be free to live their lives how they want, free of judgment, and free of discriminatory legislation that prohibits them from enjoying and benefitting from something just because they are different. Saying same sex couples shouldn't marry is no different than saying mixed race couples shouldn't marry. No different! Ironically, some of the exact same arguments (or lack there of) that were once used to argue against interracial couples marrying (damage to children and families) is what is being argued in opposition of same sex couples being allowed to marry. Before 1967, when the U.S. Supreme Court ended all bans on interracial marriage (Loving v. Virginia), interracial marriage was still illegal in 16 states. Opposition to same sex marriage is the racism of this day and age. If you feel that way, and choose to judge people that are different than you, I truly do feel sorry for you. I hope you evolve and grow, and become a better person. The fact that people I know and love don't have the same rights that I do makes me sad. The fact that it's the bigotry and discrimination of other people that keeps them from having those rights makes me angry.   I look forward to soon witnessing our government do the right thing, and finally making the United States of America a place where all men and women are created equal - a place where everyone has the same civil rights.
