The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk Is Sunday, October 16th

We've known Breast Cancer in our family, as I am sure many of you do. Sunday, October 16th is a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Independence Grove in Libertyville.

My sister Rhonda is a breast cancer survivor.  It has been over 43 months and 3 birthdays since she was first able to utter those words. My wife Judy's beloved mother Betty (our daughter is named in her blessed memory) passed away from breast cancer and I was never fortunate enough to meet her, although she was, and still is, an angel. I wear a pink breast cancer bracelet 24/7 as a reminder of both of their battles.

Rhonda's husband and sons have been at her side holding fundraisers for this dreaded disease for years and my family has participated. Last year, Rhonda and Judy participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

More than 800,000 walkers across the country joined the American Cancer Society in a united fight against breast cancer in 2010. Together, they raised more than $60 million through Making Strides events one donation at a time. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a powerful and inspiring event that unites communities to celebrate people who have battled cancer. It helps raise awareness about the steps to help prevent the disease.  It raises money to find cures and support programs and services for those facing the disease.

Rhonda and Judy walk (or walked) again on Sunday, October 16th at 9:00 AM at Independence Grove in Libertyville.  Of course, they ask for and accept donations in all amounts and everything is deeply appreciated. This noble team of two, the Pink Pride Posseeee, will take walking sticks in hand, and although they say they cannot go the five mile distance, I am sure will make their best effort.

If you care to contribute please go online to Rhonda's team at Making Strides Illinois and sign up.  Donations are accepted after the race as well.  Or you can simply make a check payable to the American Cancer Society and send to my attention, Michael Yublosky, or Judy Yublosky, at 113 McHenry Road, Suite 235, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089. I'll make sure Rhonda gets it!
