B'Chavana - A New Spiritual Community

Rabbi Marc Belgrad has launched a new community B'Chavana, which offers a place for Jews to explore their spirituality and which will offer High Holy Day services in the fall.

Last year, Rabbi Marc J. Belgrad announced a new High Holy Day worship experience for the community.  The response was powerful; more than two hundred gathered for holidays that were spiritually uplifting.  By the time Yom Kippur had concluded, many in attendance agreed: it had been a singular experience, one which they wanted to continue.

Building on that energy, Rabbi Belgrad spent the last year developing a new spiritual community.  He calls it “B’Chavana” - from the Hebrew which means “intentional” - because he wants it to be an intentional community, one built with forethought by its members.  B’Chavana starts with people where they are and helps them to grow from there.  The community intentionally maintains its focus on primary Jewish activities, concentrating on spirited worship, engaging learning and transformational work of social justice.  Likewise, it is intentional about building connections between its participants so that a true community is formed.  Already attracting people all along the “Lake-Cook corridor,” B’Chavana has become an exciting spiritual home for people from a variety of different backgrounds.

B’Chavana is open to anyone interested in this type of community.  A membership process for joining will be established by the end of July.  In the meantime, B’Chavana welcomes anyone who wants to attend.  If you are interested and  would like to learn more, contact Rabbi Belgrad at: ravmarc@aol.com.  B’Chavana also maintains a website, with news of events:  http://rabbimarcbelgrad.wordpress.com.
