Cubs Find Cure For Curse

The 1945 Billy Goat Curse may have met its match.

Alright I will admit it, I am one of those dedicated Cubs fans, but don't take that too personally. You see, I enjoy the game of baseball, in fact I attended the team's opening game on April 1st, and sat in the pouring rain as the team started the season once again, with a loss. And although I may not be able to recognize every name on the back of their jerseys, I root for the Cubbies no matter the score.

For the past series against the Milwaukee Brewers and heading into the series against the New York Yankees, the Cubs have worn T-shirts underneath their uniforms mocking a curse that is believed to be the reason that the Cubs haven't been to the World Series since 1945.

This so called, "Billy Goat Curse" was placed on the Cubs that season, when Billy Sianis, Billy Goat Tavern owner, was asked to leave the game against the Detriot Tigers because the odor of his pet goat was a bother to the surrounding fans. It is reported that the man left cursing the Cubs, vowing that they will never get the World Series title again, and they haven't.

Year after year the team and their fans have tried to break the curse, but I have hope that this season may open the door to a new beginning. The Brewers may have lost some momentum during their series against the Cubs, in which they lost three-of-four games, but it also may be possible that a cure has been found.

For all you nonbelievers, I encourage you to watch the remainder of the Cubs vs. Yankees series, our home team won 3-1 against a team that has the potential to be first in our division.

Call me crazy but the World Series for the Cubbies may come sooner than you think.
