Spring Break

Spring Break

Link Together wants to share with you one of the creative ways we reach our students with a prevention message. Below is an excerpt from one of our social norms marketing campaign pieces posted in our local high schools during March.

Social Norms marketing campaigns are currently taking place at Wheeling and Buffalo Grove High School and will be starting in the fall at Hersey High School. These campaigns educate our teens about not using alcohol and drugs and focus on the fact that most teens in Wheeling Township do not use these substances.

Believe it or not, spring is coming and second semester is in full swing. It’s exciting to think that half of the year is already done and with each passing day, you are moving closer and closer to the end of the school year. Now summer is still a little far off on the horizon but thank goodness we get another chance to rest the brain with the upcoming spring break. As you start to make your plans, whether it is going on vacation with family and friends or hanging around town, you really want to plan your break with your future in mind.

*Be Smart – You will have a variety of choices and this is the time to start learning to make smart ones. If you wouldn’t want your activity broadcasted on the morning announcements, you probably shouldn’t be doing it.

*Be Safe – Think before you do!  Drinking at a party may seem like fun at the time but ending up in the hospital or worse is never worth it. Your choices are yours but the results of those choices can be devastating and/or life altering.

*Be Responsible – Your behavior not only affects you, but can also have an impact on your family, your friends, and your future as well.  Don’t do something that is going to draw negative attention to you.  No parent wants to get a phone call from the police about the irresponsible behavior of their son/daughter, and no job or college wants to see this on an application or transcript.

*Be Great! – The only person responsible for your reputation is YOU! How do you want to be remembered 5, 10 or 15 years from now? Be a leader, be a positive influence, be a role model, be great!
