The holidays are here and hopefully most of us will have more time to spend with our families. Thanksgiving can bring us together to catch up, bond, and of course, talk to your teen about drug and alcohol use. What! You want me to spend this joyous holiday time talking about this serious topic? Well, yes. Teens that have parents who talk with them about drug use are less likely to abuse drugs. Even if it seems like your teen is not listening, studies have shown that they are. Getting a conversation started about drugs and alcohol can be challenging. Click here for tips on how to start this important conversation with your teen. Remember that once you have started, don’t stop. By creating an ongoing dialogue with your child about drugs and alcohol you will be giving them a gift that you will both be thankful for.
