Fire Up Your Grills

America’s barbecue cuisine is enjoying a great revival.  Right here in Buffalo Grove, we have been honoring this truly-American food for several years at the Buffalo Grove Days BBQ Challenge.  During Buffalo Grove Days, the Challenge will return for another year of competition grilling.  As of today, the event is still recruiting contestants and judges.  This year’s contest will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1 in St. Mary’s Field.  Sponsoring the event are Dorfler’s Meat Market and Real Urban BBQ.  As sponsors, Dorfler’s Meat Market provides special pricing to contestants.  In fact, in the burger category, Dorfler’s will supply FREE meat.

Contestants can enter in one, two or all of the following categories:  burgers, ribs, poultry, steak/chops/brisket, and pulled pork.  With an entry fee of $5 per entry, you can easily enter more than one creation.  You can bring your own grill or share one with another griller.  Grills will not be provided by Buffalo Grove Days.  The competition is open to amateur grillers over age 21.  Judging is based on taste, presentation, texture and other criteria determined by the judges.
