A Judicial Candidate who has Refused Campaign Donations

Jeff Braiman has refused campaign donations from lawyers, law firms and special interests because it's just not right.

I am Jeff Braiman, Mayor of Buffalo Grove and candidate for Lake County's 3rd Judicial Subcircuit.

The independence and integrity of our judicial system is of the utmost importance. Should any of us have to appear before a judge, we all want to know that the judge will listen to the facts at hand and make a fair decision that is independent from any outside influences.

My campaign has refused donations from lawyers, law firms, special interests, interested supporters, and even the democratic party. I have made this decision because I do not believe it is right for politics and money to mingle with the sanctity of our judiciary.

This may mean that my campaign is underfunded, and as we all know in politics, it may mean that I lose this election. That being said, I am confident that I made the right decision. No matter the outcome of this election, my campaign has taken a stand to protect the integrity and independence of our judicial system.

If you agree with me that judicial candidates should not accept campaign donations, and if you want a judge that has independence and integrity, I ask that you vote for me, Jeff Braiman, to be your judge.

What is the difference between a political donation and a contribution? I remember a Braiman for Judge campaign mailer bragging of a Personal PAC endorsement. Personal PAC is clearly a special interest group and has surely promoted candidate Braiman in all its political communications to its membership. I ask? Is the endorsement benefit of Personal PAC a political donation or a contribution from a special interest group? Braiman reminds me of another integrity challenged politician who when cornered demanded to know what the meaning of the word is is. If you agree with the Braiman Judicial Purity Standard, you should not vote for Judge Nancy Waites, his running mate in the sub circuit, who has accepted contributions from all of the Braiman no-no list. What's right is right.

Mr. Braiman's recent mail piece also contains a quote from Rep. Sid Mathias that was taken out of context and presented in a way that makes it look like Rep. Mathias has endorsed Mr. Braiman for Judge --- which Rep. Mathias HAS NOT. There is nothing more important than honesty and integrity in our judges. Mr. Braiman has demonstrated he has neither, through his misleading use of Sid Mathias's comment. Perhaps there's a reason that the Judge Dan Shanes has been endorsed by the newspapers and is "Highly Recommended" by the Lake County Bar Association.

There was a piece sent out by his campaign with Sente stating that a prominent public figure from the other major party endorsed his candidacy. The piece is a complete lie. In good faith one would expect a retraction by these Democrats. But frankly, I don't expect anything in good faith from this bunch. It's obvious that their only objective is control and Power through public office.

The Judicial Candidate, Pat Fix (D), running for the 2nd Sub-circuit was allegedly caught with her opponents campaign signs in her car (http://www.championnews.net/2012/11/02/patricia-fix-judicial-candidate-accused-of-stealing-campaign-signs/). Do we really want these kind of people on the bench?
