Firefighters to Distribute Halloween Treats to Children

Some bags will contain special treats — tickets awarding the recipients rides to school on a fire truck.

If you see some tall people dress as firefighters while you're trick-or-treating, chances are good that they're not adults in costume.

Members of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department will be passing out 1,000 trick-or-treat bags to children in different neighborhoods.

Ten of the bags will contain a golden ticket redeemable for a ride to school on a fire truck.

Residents are invited to chat with the firefighters and take photos in front of the fire truck. "It also is a chance for the firefighters to have fun with the children but more importantly to be an extra set of eyes watching over the children as they go through the neighborhoods," the fire department said in a press release.
